لِقَوْمٍۢ

for a people

يُؤْمِنُونَ

who believe

yu'minūna

Te narro parte de la verdadera historia de Moisés y del Faraón, para la gente que cree.

(into) sects

يَسْتَضْعِفُ

oppressing

yastaḍʿifu

طَآئِفَةًۭ

a group

ṭāifatan

مِّنْهُمْ

among them

min'hum

يُذَبِّحُ

slaughtering

yudhabbiḥu

أَبْنَآءَهُمْ

their sons

abnāahum

وَيَسْتَحْىِۦ

and letting live

wayastaḥyī

نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚ

their women

nisāahum

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, he

innahu

كَانَ

was

kāna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

the corrupters

l-muf'sidīna

٤

El Faraón fue un tirano en la Tierra. Dividió a sus habitantes en clases y esclavizó a un grupo de ellos, a cuyos hijos varones degolló, dejando con vida a las mujeres [para la servidumbre]. Sembró la corrupción.

وَنُرِيدُ

And We wanted

wanurīdu

أَن

to

an

نَّمُنَّ

bestow a favor

namunna

عَلَى

upon

ʿalā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟

were oppressed

us'tuḍ'ʿifū

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ

and make them

wanajʿalahum

أَئِمَّةًۭ

leaders

a-immatan

وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ

and make them

wanajʿalahumu

ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ

the inheritors

l-wārithīna

٥

Quise agraciar a quienes habían sido esclavizados en la Tierra, y convertirlos en líderes ejemplares y en herederos,

وَنُمَكِّنَ

And [We] establish

wanumakkina

لَهُمْ

them

lahum

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

وَنُرِىَ

and show

wanuriya

فِرْعَوْنَ

Firaun

fir'ʿawna

وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ

and Haman

wahāmāna

وَجُنُودَهُمَا

and their hosts

wajunūdahumā

مِنْهُم

through them

min'hum

مَّا

what

mā

كَانُوا۟

they were

kānū

يَحْذَرُونَ

fearing

yaḥdharūna

٦

dándoles poder sobre la tierra, y hacer que el Faraón, Hamán y sus huestes vieran [hecho realidad] lo que temían.

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ

And We inspired

wa-awḥaynā

إِلَىٰٓ

[to]

ilā

أُمِّ

(the) mother

ummi

مُوسَىٰٓ

(of) Musa

mūsā

أَنْ

that

an

أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ

Suckle him

arḍiʿīhi

فَإِذَا

but when

fa-idhā

خِفْتِ

you fear

khif'ti

عَلَيْهِ

for him

ʿalayhi

فَأَلْقِيهِ

then cast him

fa-alqīhi

فِى

in(to)

fī

ٱلْيَمِّ

the river

l-yami

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَخَافِى

fear

takhāfī

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَحْزَنِىٓ ۖ

grieve

taḥzanī

إِنَّا

Indeed, We

innā

رَآدُّوهُ

(will) restore him

rāddūhu

إِلَيْكِ

to you

ilayki

وَجَاعِلُوهُ

and (will) make him

wajāʿilūhu

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

the Messengers

l-mur'salīna

٧

Inspiré a la madre de Moisés: “Amamántalo, y cuando temas por él déjalo [en un cesto de mimbre] en el río. No temas ni te entristezcas, porque te lo devolveré y haré de él un Mensajero”.

فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓ

Then picked him up

fal-taqaṭahu

ءَالُ

(the) family

ālu

فِرْعَوْنَ

(of) Firaun

fir'ʿawna

لِيَكُونَ

so that he might become

liyakūna

لَهُمْ

to them

lahum

عَدُوًّۭا

an enemy

ʿaduwwan

وَحَزَنًا ۗ

and a grief

waḥazanan

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

فِرْعَوْنَ

Firaun

fir'ʿawna

وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ

and Haman

wahāmāna

وَجُنُودَهُمَا

and their hosts

wajunūdahumā

كَانُوا۟

were

kānū

خَـٰطِـِٔينَ

sinners

khāṭiīna

٨

Le recogió la gente del Faraón para que [sin saberlo] se convirtiera en su enemigo y la causa de su pesar. El Faraón, Hamán y sus huestes eran pecadores.

وَقَالَتِ

And said

waqālati

ٱمْرَأَتُ

(the) wife

im'ra-atu

فِرْعَوْنَ

(of) Firaun

fir'ʿawna

قُرَّتُ

A comfort

qurratu

عَيْنٍۢ

(of the) eye

ʿaynin

لِّى

for me

lī

وَلَكَ ۖ

and for you

walaka

لَا

(Do) not

lā

تَقْتُلُوهُ

kill him

taqtulūhu

عَسَىٰٓ

perhaps

ʿasā

أَن

(that)

an

يَنفَعَنَآ

he may benefit us

yanfaʿanā

أَوْ

or

aw

نَتَّخِذَهُۥ

we may take him

nattakhidhahu

وَلَدًۭا

(as) a son

waladan

وَهُمْ

And they

wahum

لَا

(did) not

lā

يَشْعُرُونَ

perceive

yashʿurūna

٩

Dijo la mujer del Faraón: “[Este niño] será una alegría para mis ojos y los tuyos. No le mates. Puede que nos beneficie. ¡Adoptémosle!” Ellos no presentían [en qué se convertiría].

وَأَصْبَحَ

And became

wa-aṣbaḥa

فُؤَادُ

(the) heart

fuādu

أُمِّ

(of the) mother

ummi

مُوسَىٰ

(of) Musa

mūsā

فَـٰرِغًا ۖ

empty

fārighan

إِن

That

in

كَادَتْ

she was near

kādat

لَتُبْدِى

(to) disclosing

latub'dī

بِهِۦ

about him

bihi

لَوْلَآ

if not

lawlā

أَن

that

an

رَّبَطْنَا

We strengthened

rabaṭnā

عَلَىٰ

[over]

ʿalā

قَلْبِهَا

her heart

qalbihā

لِتَكُونَ

so that she would be

litakūna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

the believers

l-mu'minīna

١٠

La madre de Moisés sintió un vacío en su corazón y estuvo a punto de revelar la verdad, de no haber sido porque afiancé su corazón para que fuera una verdadera creyente.

وَقَالَتْ

And she said

waqālat

لِأُخْتِهِۦ

to his sister

li-ukh'tihi

قُصِّيهِ ۖ

Follow him

quṣṣīhi

فَبَصُرَتْ

So she watched

بِهِۦ

him

bihi

عَن

from

ʿan

جُنُبٍۢ

a distance

junubin

وَهُمْ

while they

wahum

لَا

(did) not

lā

يَشْعُرُونَ

perceive

yashʿurūna

Le dijo [la madre] a la hermana [de Moisés]: “Sigue sus rastros”; ella lo veía de lejos sin que se dieran cuenta.

۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا

And We had forbidden

waḥarramnā

عَلَيْهِ

for him

ʿalayhi

ٱلْمَرَاضِعَ

the wet nurses

l-marāḍiʿa

مِن

before

min

قَبْلُ

before

qablu

فَقَالَتْ

so she said

faqālat

هَلْ

Shall I

hal

أَدُلُّكُمْ

direct you

adullukum

عَلَىٰٓ

to

ʿalā

أَهْلِ

(the) people

ahli

بَيْتٍۢ

(of) a house

baytin

يَكْفُلُونَهُۥ

who will rear him

yakfulūnahu

لَكُمْ

for you

lakum

وَهُمْ

while they

wahum

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

نَـٰصِحُونَ

(will be) sincere

nāṣiḥūna

١٢

No permití que ninguna nodriza pudiera amamantarlo. Dijo [la hermana de Moisés]: “¿Acaso quieren que les indique una familia que puede cuidarlo y criarlo bien?”

فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُ

So We restored him

faradadnāhu

إِلَىٰٓ

to

ilā

أُمِّهِۦ

his mother

ummihi

كَىْ

that

kay

تَقَرَّ

might be comforted

taqarra

عَيْنُهَا

her eye

ʿaynuhā

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَحْزَنَ

she may grieve

taḥzana

وَلِتَعْلَمَ

and that she would know

walitaʿlama

أَنَّ

that

anna

وَعْدَ

the Promise of Allah

waʿda

ٱللَّهِ

the Promise of Allah

l-lahi

حَقٌّۭ

(is) true

ḥaqqun

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

But

walākinna

أَكْثَرَهُمْ

most of them

aktharahum

لَا

(do) not

lā

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

١٣

Así se lo devolví a su madre [como nodriza] para consuelo de sus ojos, para que no se entristeciera y supiera que la promesa de Dios siempre se cumple, aunque la mayoría [de la gente] lo ignore.

وَلَمَّا

And when

walammā

بَلَغَ

he reached

balagha

أَشُدَّهُۥ

his full strength

ashuddahu

وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓ

and became mature

wa-is'tawā

ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

We bestowed upon him

ātaynāhu

حُكْمًۭا

wisdom

ḥuk'man

وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ

and knowledge

waʿil'man

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

And thus

wakadhālika

نَجْزِى

We reward

najzī

ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

the good-doers

l-muḥ'sinīna

١٤

Cuando se convirtió en adulto y tuvo madurez, le concedí conocimiento y sabiduría. Así es como retribuyo a quienes hacen el bien.

وَدَخَلَ

And he entered

wadakhala

ٱلْمَدِينَةَ

the city

l-madīnata

عَلَىٰ

at

ʿalā

حِينِ

a time

ḥīni

غَفْلَةٍۢ

(of) inattention

ghaflatin

مِّنْ

of

min

أَهْلِهَا

its people

ahlihā

فَوَجَدَ

and found

fawajada

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

رَجُلَيْنِ

two men

rajulayni

يَقْتَتِلَانِ

fighting each other

yaqtatilāni

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

مِن

of

min

شِيعَتِهِۦ

his party

shīʿatihi

وَهَـٰذَا

and this

wahādhā

مِنْ

of

min

عَدُوِّهِۦ ۖ

his enemy

ʿaduwwihi

فَٱسْتَغَـٰثَهُ

And called him for help

fa-is'taghāthahu

ٱلَّذِى

the one who

alladhī

مِن

(was) from

min

شِيعَتِهِۦ

his party

shīʿatihi

عَلَى

against

ʿalā

ٱلَّذِى

the one who

alladhī

مِنْ

(was) from

min

عَدُوِّهِۦ

his enemy

ʿaduwwihi

فَوَكَزَهُۥ

so Musa struck him with his fist

fawakazahu

مُوسَىٰ

so Musa struck him with his fist

mūsā

فَقَضَىٰ

and killed him

faqaḍā

عَلَيْهِ ۖ

and killed him

ʿalayhi

قَالَ

He said

qāla

هَـٰذَا

This (is)

hādhā

مِنْ

of

min

عَمَلِ

(the) deed

ʿamali

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖ

(of) Shaitaan

l-shayṭāni

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, he

innahu

عَدُوٌّۭ

(is) an enemy

ʿaduwwun

مُّضِلٌّۭ

one who misleads

muḍillun

مُّبِينٌۭ

clearly

mubīnun

١٥

[Moisés] ingresó cierta vez a la ciudad sin que sus habitantes se percataran y encontró a dos hombres que peleaban, uno era de los suyos y el otro era de sus enemigos. El que era de los suyos le pidió ayuda contra el que era de sus enemigos. Entonces Moisés le golpeó con su puño y [sin intención de hacerlo] le causó la muerte. Exclamó [Moisés]: “Esto es obra del demonio, que es un enemigo evidente que pretende desviar a la gente”.

He said

My Lord

rabbi

إِنِّى

Indeed, I

ظَلَمْتُ

[I] have wronged

ẓalamtu

نَفْسِى

my soul

nafsī

فَٱغْفِرْ

so forgive

fa-igh'fir

لِى

[for] me

lī

فَغَفَرَ

Then He forgave

faghafara

لَهُۥٓ ۚ

[for] him

lahu

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed He

innahu

هُوَ

He (is)

huwa

ٱلْغَفُورُ

the Oft-Forgiving

l-ghafūru

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the Most Merciful

l-raḥīmu

١٦

Dijo: “¡Señor mío! He sido injusto conmigo mismo; perdóname”. Y [Dios] le perdonó, porque Él es Absolvedor, Misericordioso.

ظَهِيرًۭا

a supporter

ẓahīran

لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ

(of) the criminals

lil'muj'rimīna

١٧

Dijo: “¡Señor mío! Por la gracia que me has concedido, que no sea yo auxiliador de un malhechor criminal”.

فَأَصْبَحَ

In the morning he was

ٱلْمَدِينَةِ

خَآئِفًۭا

fearful

يَتَرَقَّبُ

(and) was vigilant

yataraqqabu

فَإِذَا

when behold

fa-idhā

ٱلَّذِى

The one who

alladhī

ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ

sought his help

is'tanṣarahu

بِٱلْأَمْسِ

the previous day

bil-amsi

يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ ۚ

cried out to him for help

yastaṣrikhuhu

قَالَ

Said

qāla

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

مُوسَىٰٓ

Musa

mūsā

إِنَّكَ

Indeed, you

innaka

لَغَوِىٌّۭ

(are) surely a deviator

laghawiyyun

مُّبِينٌۭ

clear

mubīnun

١٨

A la mañana siguiente amaneció temeroso y cauteloso, y quien le había pedido ayuda el día anterior nuevamente le pedía auxilio a gritos. Entonces Moisés le dijo: “No cabe duda de que eres un perdido [busca pleitos]”.

فَلَمَّآ

Then when

يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ

O Musa

yāmūsā

أَتُرِيدُ

Do you intend

aturīdu

أَن

to

an

تَقْتُلَنِى

kill me

taqtulanī

كَمَا

as

kamā

قَتَلْتَ

you killed

qatalta

نَفْسًۢا

a person

nafsan

بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۖ

yesterday

bil-amsi

إِن

Not

in

تُرِيدُ

you want

turīdu

إِلَّآ

but

illā

أَن

that

an

تَكُونَ

you become

takūna

جَبَّارًۭا

a tyrant

jabbāran

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَمَا

and not

wamā

تُرِيدُ

you want

turīdu

أَن

that

an

تَكُونَ

you be

takūna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ

the reformers

l-muṣ'liḥīna

١٩

Cuando [Moisés] quiso sujetar al enemigo de ambos, éste le dijo: “¡Oh, Moisés! ¿Acaso pretendes matarme como lo hiciste con otro ayer? Solo quieres imponer tu tiranía en la tierra, en lugar de ser de aquellos que establecen el orden”.

And came

ٱلْمَدِينَةِ

قَالَ

He said

يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ

O Musa

yāmūsā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلْمَلَأَ

the chiefs

l-mala-a

يَأْتَمِرُونَ

are taking counsel

yatamirūna

بِكَ

about you

bika

لِيَقْتُلُوكَ

to kill you

liyaqtulūka

فَٱخْرُجْ

so leave

fa-ukh'ruj

إِنِّى

indeed, I am

innī

لَكَ

to you

laka

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلنَّـٰصِحِينَ

the sincere advisors

l-nāṣiḥīna

٢٠

Entonces, un hombre que vivía en las afueras de la ciudad se dirigió presuroso [hacia donde Moisés] y le dijo: “¡Oh, Moisés! La nobleza se confabuló para matarte. ¡Huye! Yo solo te aconsejo”.

Presuroso, Moisés se alejó de la ciudad con temor y cautela, diciendo: “¡Señor mío! Protégeme de los opresores”.

And when

my Lord

will guide me

(to the) sound

ٱلسَّبِيلِ

way

l-sabīli

٢٢

Y cuando se encontraba camino a Madián dijo: “¡Pueda que mi Señor me guie por el camino correcto!”

مِّنَ

ٱلنَّاسِ

يَسْقُونَ

watering

وَوَجَدَ

and he found

wawajada

مِن

besides them

min

دُونِهِمُ

besides them

dūnihimu

ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ

two women

im'ra-atayni

تَذُودَانِ ۖ

keeping back

tadhūdāni

قَالَ

He said

qāla

مَا

What

mā

خَطْبُكُمَا ۖ

(is the) matter with both of you

khaṭbukumā

قَالَتَا

They said

qālatā

لَا

We cannot water

lā

نَسْقِى

We cannot water

nasqī

حَتَّىٰ

until

ḥattā

يُصْدِرَ

take away

yuṣ'dira

ٱلرِّعَآءُ ۖ

the shepherds

l-riʿāu

وَأَبُونَا

and our father

wa-abūnā

شَيْخٌۭ

(is) a very old man

shaykhun

كَبِيرٌۭ

(is) a very old man

kabīrun

٢٣

Cuando llegó a la aguada de Madián, encontró pastores dando de beber a sus rebaños, y vio que apartadas de ellos había dos mujeres que sujetaban a sus rebaños, entonces les preguntó: “¿Qué os sucede?” Respondieron [ellas]: “No podemos abrevar a nuestro rebaño hasta que los pastores se hayan ido, y nuestro padre es ya un anciano [para hacerlo él]”.

فَسَقَىٰ

So he watered

and said

My Lord

Indeed, I am

لِمَآ

of whatever

أَنزَلْتَ

You send

anzalta

إِلَىَّ

to me

ilayya

مِنْ

of

min

خَيْرٍۢ

good

khayrin

فَقِيرٌۭ

(in) need

faqīrun

٢٤

Entonces [Moisés] abrevó al rebaño por ellas, y al terminar se retiró a la sombra y exclamó: “¡Señor mío! Realmente necesito cualquier gracia que me concedas”.

فَجَآءَتْهُ

Then came to him

إِحْدَىٰهُمَا

one of the two women

قَالَتْ

She said

Indeed

يَدْعُوكَ

calls you

لِيَجْزِيَكَ

that he may reward you

liyajziyaka

أَجْرَ

(the) reward

ajra

مَا

(for) what

mā

سَقَيْتَ

you watered

saqayta

لَنَا ۚ

for us

lanā

فَلَمَّا

So when

falammā

جَآءَهُۥ

he came to him

jāahu

وَقَصَّ

and narrated

waqaṣṣa

عَلَيْهِ

to him

ʿalayhi

ٱلْقَصَصَ

the story

l-qaṣaṣa

قَالَ

he said

qāla

لَا

(Do) not

lā

تَخَفْ ۖ

fear

takhaf

نَجَوْتَ

You have escaped

najawta

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلْقَوْمِ

the people

l-qawmi

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

٢٥

[Más tarde,] una de ellas regresó y acercándose a él con recato le dijo: “Mi padre te envía una invitación para retribuirte por haber abrevado nuestro rebaño”. Y cuando se presentó ante él, le relató su historia, y [el padre de las dos mujeres] le dijo: “No temas, [aquí] estás a salvo de los opresores”.

Said

إِحْدَىٰهُمَا

يَـٰٓأَبَتِ

O my father

ٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُ ۖ

Hire him

Indeed

inna

خَيْرَ

(the) best

khayra

مَنِ

whom

mani

ٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَ

you (can) hire

is'tajarta

ٱلْقَوِىُّ

(is) the strong

l-qawiyu

ٱلْأَمِينُ

the trustworthy

l-amīnu

٢٦

Una de ellas dijo: “¡Oh, padre! Contrátalo, pues qué mejor que contratar a un hombre fuerte y honesto”.

هَـٰتَيْنِ

(of) these two

عَلَىٰٓ

ʿalā

أَن

تَأْجُرَنِى

you serve me

tajuranī

ثَمَـٰنِىَ

(for) eight

thamāniya

حِجَجٍۢ ۖ

years

ḥijajin

فَإِنْ

but if

fa-in

أَتْمَمْتَ

you complete

atmamta

عَشْرًۭا

ten

ʿashran

فَمِنْ

then from

famin

عِندِكَ ۖ

you

ʿindika

وَمَآ

And not

wamā

أُرِيدُ

I wish

urīdu

أَنْ

to

an

أَشُقَّ

make it difficult

ashuqqa

عَلَيْكَ ۚ

for you

ʿalayka

سَتَجِدُنِىٓ

You will find me

satajidunī

إِن

if

in

شَآءَ

Allah wills

shāa

ٱللَّهُ

Allah wills

l-lahu

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

the righteous

l-ṣāliḥīna

٢٧

Dijo [el padre de las dos mujeres a Moisés]: “Quisiera ofrecerte en matrimonio a una de mis dos hijas a condición de que trabajes con nosotros durante ocho años, pero si deseas quedarte diez será algo que tú hagas voluntariamente. No pretendo dificultarte las cosas, y me encontrarás, si Dios quiere, entre los que tratan con justicia [a sus empleados]”.

(is) between me

وَبَيْنَكَ ۖ

أَيَّمَا

Whichever

(of) the two terms

l-ajalayni

قَضَيْتُ

I complete

qaḍaytu

فَلَا

then no

falā

عُدْوَٰنَ

injustice

ʿud'wāna

عَلَىَّ ۖ

to me

ʿalayya

وَٱللَّهُ

and Allah

wal-lahu

عَلَىٰ

over

ʿalā

مَا

what

mā

نَقُولُ

we say

naqūlu

وَكِيلٌۭ

(is) a Witness

wakīlun

٢٨

Dijo [Moisés]: “Eso es [un acuerdo] entre tú y yo. Cualquiera que sea el plazo que cumpla no será injusto conmigo, y Dios es testigo de lo que decimos”.

Then when

ٱلطُّورِ

(of) Mount Tur

l-ṭūri

نَارًۭا

a fire

nāran

قَالَ

He said

qāla

لِأَهْلِهِ

to his family

li-ahlihi

ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟

Stay here

um'kuthū

إِنِّىٓ

indeed, I

innī

ءَانَسْتُ

[I] perceive

ānastu

نَارًۭا

a fire

nāran

لَّعَلِّىٓ

Perhaps

laʿallī

ءَاتِيكُم

I will bring you

ātīkum

مِّنْهَا

from there

min'hā

بِخَبَرٍ

some information

bikhabarin

أَوْ

or

aw

جَذْوَةٍۢ

a burning wood

jadhwatin

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلنَّارِ

the fire

l-nāri

لَعَلَّكُمْ

so that you may

laʿallakum

تَصْطَلُونَ

warm yourselves

taṣṭalūna

٢٩

Cuando Moisés hubo cumplido el plazo, partió con su familia por la noche [rumbo a Egipto] y [en el camino] divisó un fuego en la ladera de un monte y le dijo a su familia: “Permaneced aquí, pues he divisado un fuego y quizás pueda traeros alguna noticia [del camino que debemos seguir], o bien una brasa encendida para que podamos calentarnos”.

فَلَمَّآ

But when

falammā

أَتَىٰهَا

he came (to) it

نُودِىَ

he was called

شَـٰطِئِ

(the) side

shāṭi-i

ٱلْوَادِ

ٱلْأَيْمَنِ

the right

l-aymani

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْبُقْعَةِ

the place even

l-buq'ʿati

ٱلْمُبَـٰرَكَةِ

blessed

l-mubārakati

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلشَّجَرَةِ

the tree

l-shajarati

أَن

that

an

يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ

O Musa

yāmūsā

إِنِّىٓ

Indeed

innī

أَنَا

I Am

anā

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

رَبُّ

(the) Lord

rabbu

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

(of) the worlds

l-ʿālamīna

٣٠

Cuando llegó hasta el fuego escuchó que le llamaban desde un árbol que se encontraba en la ladera derecha del valle, en el lugar bendecido: “¡Oh, Moisés! Yo soy Dios, el Señor del Universo.

And [that]

أَلْقِ

عَصَاكَ ۖ

your staff

فَلَمَّا

But when

رَءَاهَا

he saw it

كَأَنَّهَا

as if it

ka-annahā

جَآنٌّۭ

(were) a snake

jānnun

وَلَّىٰ

he turned

wallā

مُدْبِرًۭا

(in) flight

mud'biran

وَلَمْ

and (did) not

walam

يُعَقِّبْ ۚ

return

yuʿaqqib

يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ

O Musa

yāmūsā

أَقْبِلْ

Draw near

aqbil

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَخَفْ ۖ

fear

takhaf

إِنَّكَ

Indeed, you

innaka

مِنَ

(are) of

mina

ٱلْـَٔامِنِينَ

the secure

l-āminīna

٣١

Arroja tu vara”. Y cuando la vio moverse como si fuera una serpiente, se dio la vuelta para huir sin mirar atrás. [Le dijo Dios:] “¡Oh, Moisés! Acércate y no temas. Tú eres de los que están a salvo.

Insert

And draw

إِلَيْكَ

to yourselves

جَنَاحَكَ

your hand

janāḥaka

مِنَ

against

mina

ٱلرَّهْبِ ۖ

fear

l-rahbi

فَذَٰنِكَ

So these

fadhānika

بُرْهَـٰنَانِ

(are) two evidences

bur'hānāni

مِن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

فِرْعَوْنَ

Firaun

fir'ʿawna

وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓ ۚ

and his chiefs

wamala-ihi

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

innahum

كَانُوا۟

are

kānū

قَوْمًۭا

a people

qawman

فَـٰسِقِينَ

defiantly disobedient

fāsiqīna

٣٢

Introduce tu mano por el cuello de tu túnica, y saldrá blanca y resplandeciente, sin ningún mal; y aprieta tu brazo junto al pecho para vencer el temor. Éstos son dos milagros de tu Señor para [que vean y crean] el Faraón y su nobleza. Ellos son un pueblo corrupto”.

He said

رَبِّ

My Lord

rabbi

إِنِّى

Indeed

innī

قَتَلْتُ

I killed

qataltu

مِنْهُمْ

of them

min'hum

نَفْسًۭا

a man

nafsan

فَأَخَافُ

and I fear

fa-akhāfu

أَن

that

an

يَقْتُلُونِ

they will kill me

yaqtulūni

٣٣

Dijo [Moisés]: “¡Señor mío! He matado a un hombre de los suyos y temo que me ejecuten.

وَأَخِى

And my brother

wa-akhī

هَـٰرُونُ

Harun

hārūnu

هُوَ

he

huwa

أَفْصَحُ

(is) more eloquent

afṣaḥu

مِنِّى

than me

minnī

لِسَانًۭا

(in) speech

lisānan

فَأَرْسِلْهُ

so send him

fa-arsil'hu

مَعِىَ

with me

maʿiya

رِدْءًۭا

(as) a helper

rid'an

يُصَدِّقُنِىٓ ۖ

who will confirm me

yuṣaddiqunī

إِنِّىٓ

Indeed

innī

أَخَافُ

I fear

akhāfu

أَن

that

an

يُكَذِّبُونِ

they will deny me

yukadhibūni

٣٤

Mi hermano Aarón es más elocuente que yo, envíalo conmigo para que me ayude y confirme lo que yo diga, pues temo que me desmientan”.

He said

سَنَشُدُّ

We will strengthen

sanashuddu

عَضُدَكَ

your arm

ʿaḍudaka

بِأَخِيكَ

through your brother

bi-akhīka

وَنَجْعَلُ

and We will make

wanajʿalu

لَكُمَا

for both of you

lakumā

سُلْطَـٰنًۭا

an authority

sul'ṭānan

فَلَا

so not

falā

يَصِلُونَ

they will reach

yaṣilūna

إِلَيْكُمَا ۚ

to both of you

ilaykumā

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ

Through Our Signs

biāyātinā

أَنتُمَا

you two

antumā

وَمَنِ

and (those) who

wamani

ٱتَّبَعَكُمَا

follow you

ittabaʿakumā

ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ

(will) be the dominant

l-ghālibūna

٣٥

Dijo [Dios]: “Te reforzaré con tu hermano y os daré autoridad. No podrán haceros daño. Gracias a Mis milagros, vosotros dos y quienes os sigan seréis los triunfadores”.

فَلَمَّا

But when

جَآءَهُم

came to them

مُّوسَىٰ

Musa

mūsā

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا

with Our Signs

biāyātinā

بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ

clear

قَالُوا۟

they said

qālū

مَا

Not

mā

هَـٰذَآ

(is) this

hādhā

إِلَّا

except

illā

سِحْرٌۭ

a magic

siḥ'run

مُّفْتَرًۭى

invented

muf'taran

وَمَا

and not

wamā

سَمِعْنَا

we heard

samiʿ'nā

بِهَـٰذَا

of this

bihādhā

فِىٓ

among

fī

ءَابَآئِنَا

our forefathers

ābāinā

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

our forefathers

l-awalīna

٣٦

Pero cuando Moisés se presentó con Mis signos evidentes, dijeron: “Esto no es sino una ilusión creada por hechicería. No hemos oído hablar de esto a nuestros ancestros”.

وَقَالَ

And Musa said

مُوسَىٰ

And Musa said

رَبِّىٓ

My Lord

أَعْلَمُ

knows best

aʿlamu

بِمَن

of who

biman

جَآءَ

has come

بِٱلْهُدَىٰ

with [the] guidance

bil-hudā

مِنْ

from Him

min

عِندِهِۦ

from Him

ʿindihi

وَمَن

and who

waman

تَكُونُ

will be

takūnu

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

عَـٰقِبَةُ

the good end in the Hereafter

ʿāqibatu

ٱلدَّارِ ۖ

the good end in the Hereafter

l-dāri

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed

innahu

لَا

not

lā

يُفْلِحُ

will be successful

yuf'liḥu

ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimūna

٣٧

Dijo Moisés: “Mi Señor sabe mejor que nadie quién ha venido con la guía que proviene de Él y quién triunfará en la otra vida. Los que cometen injusticias no prosperarán”.

وَقَالَ

And Firaun said

waqāla

فِرْعَوْنُ

And Firaun said

fir'ʿawnu

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا

O chiefs

yāayyuhā

ٱلْمَلَأُ

O chiefs

مَا

Not

mā

عَلِمْتُ

I know

ʿalim'tu

لَكُم

for you

lakum

مِّنْ

any

min

إِلَـٰهٍ

god

ilāhin

غَيْرِى

other than me

ghayrī

فَأَوْقِدْ

So kindle

fa-awqid

لِى

for me

lī

يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُ

O Haman

yāhāmānu

عَلَى

Upon

ʿalā

ٱلطِّينِ

the clay

l-ṭīni

فَٱجْعَل

and make

fa-ij'ʿal

لِّى

for me

lī

صَرْحًۭا

a lofty tower

ṣarḥan

لَّعَلِّىٓ

so that [I]

laʿallī

أَطَّلِعُ

I may look

aṭṭaliʿu

إِلَىٰٓ

at

ilā

إِلَـٰهِ

(the) God

ilāhi

مُوسَىٰ

(of) Musa

mūsā

وَإِنِّى

And indeed, I

wa-innī

لَأَظُنُّهُۥ

[I] think that he

la-aẓunnuhu

مِنَ

(is) of

mina

ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ

the liars

l-kādhibīna

٣٨

Dijo el Faraón: “¡Oh, corte! No conozco otra divinidad que no sea yo mismo. ¡Oh, Hamán! Enciende el horno para cocer ladrillos de barro, y construid para mí una torre para que quizás así pueda ver al dios de Moisés, aunque creo que es un mentiroso”.

وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ

And he was arrogant

wa-is'takbara

هُوَ

And he was arrogant

huwa

وَجُنُودُهُۥ

and his hosts

wajunūduhu

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the land

l-arḍi

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

ٱلْحَقِّ

right

l-ḥaqi

وَظَنُّوٓا۟

and they thought

waẓannū

أَنَّهُمْ

that they

annahum

إِلَيْنَا

to Us

ilaynā

لَا

not

lā

يُرْجَعُونَ

will be returned

yur'jaʿūna

٣٩

El Faraón y sus huestes tiranizaron el país violando todos los derechos, pensando que no iban a tener que comparecer ante Mí.

فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ

So We seized him

fa-akhadhnāhu

وَجُنُودَهُۥ

and his hosts

wajunūdahu

فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ

and We threw them

fanabadhnāhum

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْيَمِّ ۖ

the sea

l-yami

فَٱنظُرْ

So see

fa-unẓur

كَيْفَ

how

kayfa

كَانَ

was

kāna

عَـٰقِبَةُ

(the) end

ʿāqibatu

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

(of) the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

٤٠

Pero los sorprendí, al Faraón y a sus huestes, y los ahogué en el mar. Observa cuál fue el final de los que cometían injusticias.

وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ

And We made them

wajaʿalnāhum

أَئِمَّةًۭ

leaders

a-immatan

يَدْعُونَ

inviting

yadʿūna

إِلَى

to

ilā

ٱلنَّارِ ۖ

the Fire

l-nāri

وَيَوْمَ

and (on the) Day

wayawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

لَا

not

lā

يُنصَرُونَ

they will be helped

yunṣarūna

٤١

Hice que ellos [en esta vida] fueran líderes, pero conducían [a la gente al] Infierno. El Día de la Resurrección no serán socorridos.

وَأَتْبَعْنَـٰهُمْ

And We caused to follow them

wa-atbaʿnāhum

فِى

in

fī

هَـٰذِهِ

this

hādhihi

ٱلدُّنْيَا

world

l-dun'yā

لَعْنَةًۭ ۖ

a curse

laʿnatan

وَيَوْمَ

and (on the) Day

wayawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

هُم

they

hum

مِّنَ

(will be) of

mina

ٱلْمَقْبُوحِينَ

the despised

l-maqbūḥīna

٤٢

Por eso decreté que en esta vida fueran maldecidos, y que en el Día de la Resurrección sean de los apartados de todo bien.

We gave

أَهْلَكْنَا

We had destroyed

ahlaknā

ٱلْقُرُونَ

the generations

l-qurūna

ٱلْأُولَىٰ

former

l-ūlā

بَصَآئِرَ

(as) an enlightenment

baṣāira

لِلنَّاسِ

for the mankind

lilnnāsi

وَهُدًۭى

and a guidance

wahudan

وَرَحْمَةًۭ

and mercy

waraḥmatan

لَّعَلَّهُمْ

that they may

laʿallahum

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

remember

yatadhakkarūna

٤٣

Le he revelado a Moisés el Libro [la Torá] después de haber destruido a las anteriores generaciones [de opresores]. En él hay luz, guía y misericordia para que reflexionen.

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كُنتَ

you were

kunta

بِجَانِبِ

on (the) side

bijānibi

ٱلْغَرْبِىِّ

western

l-gharbiyi

إِذْ

when

idh

قَضَيْنَآ

We decreed

qaḍaynā

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

مُوسَى

Musa

mūsā

ٱلْأَمْرَ

the Commandment

l-amra

وَمَا

and not

wamā

كُنتَ

you were

kunta

مِنَ

among

mina

ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ

the witnesses

l-shāhidīna

٤٤

Y tú [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] no estabas en la ladera occidental [del monte Sinaí] cuando ordené la misión de Moisés, ni fuiste testigo de ello.

وَلَـٰكِنَّآ

But We

walākinnā

أَنشَأْنَا

[We] produced

anshanā

قُرُونًۭا

generations

qurūnan

فَتَطَاوَلَ

and prolonged

fataṭāwala

عَلَيْهِمُ

for them

ʿalayhimu

ٱلْعُمُرُ ۚ

the life

l-ʿumuru

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كُنتَ

you were

kunta

ثَاوِيًۭا

a dweller

thāwiyan

فِىٓ

among

fī

أَهْلِ

(the) people

ahli

مَدْيَنَ

(of) Madyan

madyana

تَتْلُوا۟

reciting

tatlū

عَلَيْهِمْ

to them

ʿalayhim

ءَايَـٰتِنَا

Our Verses

āyātinā

وَلَـٰكِنَّا

but We

walākinnā

كُنَّا

[We] were

kunnā

مُرْسِلِينَ

the Senders

mur'silīna

٤٥

Pero hice surgir otras generaciones que tuvieron larga vida. Tú no viviste [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] entre la gente de Madián para transmitirles Mi Mensaje, sino que te he designado Mensajero [para toda la humanidad].

And not

wamā

كُنتَ

you were

kunta

بِجَانِبِ

at (the) side

bijānibi

ٱلطُّورِ

(of) the Tur

l-ṭūri

إِذْ

when

idh

نَادَيْنَا

We called

nādaynā

وَلَـٰكِن

But

walākin

رَّحْمَةًۭ

(as) a mercy

raḥmatan

مِّن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

لِتُنذِرَ

so that you warn

litundhira

قَوْمًۭا

a people

qawman

مَّآ

not

mā

أَتَىٰهُم

(had) come to them

atāhum

مِّن

any

min

نَّذِيرٍۢ

warner

nadhīrin

مِّن

before you

min

قَبْلِكَ

before you

qablika

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

remember

yatadhakkarūna

٤٦

No estabas en la ladera del monte cuando llamé [a Moisés, y te lo revelo] como una misericordia para que adviertas a tu pueblo, al que no se le había presentado ningún Profeta para advertirles antes de ti. Quizás así reflexionen.

وَلَوْلَآ

And if not

walawlā

أَن

[that]

an

تُصِيبَهُم

struck them

tuṣībahum

مُّصِيبَةٌۢ

a disaster

muṣībatun

بِمَا

for what

bimā

قَدَّمَتْ

had sent forth

qaddamat

أَيْدِيهِمْ

their hands

aydīhim

فَيَقُولُوا۟

and they would say

fayaqūlū

رَبَّنَا

Our Lord

rabbanā

لَوْلَآ

Why not

lawlā

أَرْسَلْتَ

You sent

arsalta

إِلَيْنَا

to us

ilaynā

رَسُولًۭا

a Messenger

rasūlan

فَنَتَّبِعَ

so we (could have) followed

fanattabiʿa

ءَايَـٰتِكَ

Your Verses

āyātika

وَنَكُونَ

and we (would) have been

wanakūna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

the believers

l-mu'minīna

٤٧

Para que no digan cuando les acontezca una desgracia, a causa de las acciones malas que hicieron con sus propias manos: “¡Señor nuestro! Si nos hubieras mandado un Mensajero, habríamos acatado Tus órdenes y nos hubiéramos contado entre los creyentes”.

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

جَآءَهُمُ

came to them

jāahumu

ٱلْحَقُّ

the truth

l-ḥaqu

مِنْ

from Us

عِندِنَا

from Us

ʿindinā

قَالُوا۟

they said

لَوْلَآ

Why not

lawlā

أُوتِىَ

he was given

ūtiya

مِثْلَ

(the) like

mith'la

مَآ

(of) what

mā

أُوتِىَ

was given

ūtiya

مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ

(to) Musa

mūsā

أَوَلَمْ

Did not

awalam

يَكْفُرُوا۟

they disbelieve

yakfurū

بِمَآ

in what

bimā

أُوتِىَ

was given

ūtiya

مُوسَىٰ

(to) Musa

mūsā

مِن

before

min

قَبْلُ ۖ

before

qablu

قَالُوا۟

They said

qālū

سِحْرَانِ

Two magic (works)

siḥ'rāni

تَظَـٰهَرَا

supporting each other

taẓāharā

وَقَالُوٓا۟

And they said

waqālū

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

بِكُلٍّۢ

in all

bikullin

كَـٰفِرُونَ

(are) disbelievers

kāfirūna

٤٨

Sin embargo, cuando les llegó la Verdad proveniente de Mí dijeron: “¿Por qué no se le han dado [a Muhámmad] las mismas evidencias que a Moisés?” Pero ¿acaso no habían rechazado ya lo que anteriormente se le había concedido a Moisés? Dijeron: “Son dos clases de hechiceros confabulados y no les creemos a ninguno de los dos”.

قُلْ

Say

qul

فَأْتُوا۟

Then bring

fatū

بِكِتَـٰبٍۢ

a Book

bikitābin

مِّنْ

from Allah

min

عِندِ

from Allah

ʿindi

ٱللَّهِ

from Allah

l-lahi

هُوَ

which

huwa

أَهْدَىٰ

(is) a better guide

ahdā

مِنْهُمَآ

than both of them

min'humā

أَتَّبِعْهُ

that I may follow it

attabiʿ'hu

إِن

if

in

كُنتُمْ

you are

kuntum

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٤٩

Diles [¡Oh, Muhámmad!]: “Traed un libro proveniente de Dios que sea una guía mejor que estos dos y yo lo seguiré, si es que decís la verdad.

فَإِن

But if

fa-in

لَّمْ

not

lam

يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟

they respond

yastajībū

لَكَ

to you

laka

فَٱعْلَمْ

then know

fa-iʿ'lam

أَنَّمَا

that only

annamā

يَتَّبِعُونَ

they follow

yattabiʿūna

أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ

their desires

ahwāahum

وَمَنْ

And who

waman

أَضَلُّ

(is) more astray

aḍallu

مِمَّنِ

than (one) who

mimmani

ٱتَّبَعَ

follows

ittabaʿa

هَوَىٰهُ

his own desire

hawāhu

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

هُدًۭى

guidance

hudan

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

Allah

l-lahi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

lā

يَهْدِى

guide

yahdī

ٱلْقَوْمَ

the people

l-qawma

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers

l-ẓālimīna

٥٠

Pero si aun así no responden [a tu llamada], sabe que no hacen más que seguir sus propias pasiones. ¿Acaso existe alguien más extraviado que quien sigue sus pasiones sin ninguna guía de Dios? Dios no guía a la gente que comete injusticias.

۞ وَلَقَدْ

And indeed

walaqad

وَصَّلْنَا

We have conveyed

waṣṣalnā

لَهُمُ

to them

lahumu

ٱلْقَوْلَ

the Word

l-qawla

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

remember

yatadhakkarūna

٥١

Les he revelado la palabra para que reflexionen.

Those who

ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ

We gave them

ātaynāhumu

ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ

the Scripture

before it

qablihi

هُم

they

hum

بِهِۦ

in it

bihi

يُؤْمِنُونَ

believe

yu'minūna

٥٢

Quienes recibieron Mi revelación antes de él, creyeron en él.

And when

يُتْلَىٰ

it is recited

عَلَيْهِمْ

to them

ʿalayhim

قَالُوٓا۟

they say

ءَامَنَّا

We believe

بِهِۦٓ

in it

إِنَّهُ

Indeed, it

innahu

ٱلْحَقُّ

(is) the truth

مِن

from

رَّبِّنَآ

our Lord

rabbinā

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

كُنَّا

[we] were

kunnā

مِن

before it

min

قَبْلِهِۦ

before it

qablihi

مُسْلِمِينَ

Muslims

mus'limīna

٥٣

Cuando se les recita [el Corán] dicen: “Creemos en él; es la Verdad que proviene de nuestro Señor. Antes de escucharlo ya éramos musulmanes [sometidos a Dios]”.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

يُؤْتَوْنَ

will be given

yu'tawna

أَجْرَهُم

their reward

ajrahum

مَّرَّتَيْنِ

twice

marratayni

بِمَا

because

bimā

صَبَرُوا۟

they are patient

ṣabarū

وَيَدْرَءُونَ

and they repel

wayadraūna

بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ

with good

bil-ḥasanati

ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ

the evil

l-sayi-ata

وَمِمَّا

and from what

wamimmā

رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ

We have provided them

razaqnāhum

يُنفِقُونَ

they spend

yunfiqūna

٥٤

Ellos recibirán su recompensa dos veces por haber sido perseverantes, haber respondido el mal con bien, y haber dado en caridad parte de lo que les había provisto,

وَإِذَا

And when

wa-idhā

سَمِعُوا۟

they hear

samiʿū

ٱللَّغْوَ

vain talk

l-laghwa

أَعْرَضُوا۟

they turn away

aʿraḍū

عَنْهُ

from it

ʿanhu

وَقَالُوا۟

and say

waqālū

لَنَآ

For us

lanā

أَعْمَـٰلُنَا

our deeds

aʿmālunā

وَلَكُمْ

and for you

walakum

أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ

your deeds

aʿmālukum

سَلَـٰمٌ

Peace (be)

salāmun

عَلَيْكُمْ

on you

ʿalaykum

لَا

not

lā

نَبْتَغِى

we seek

nabtaghī

ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ

the ignorant

l-jāhilīna

٥٥

y cuando oían conversaciones frívolas se apartaban de ellas y exclamaban: “Nosotros responderemos por nuestras acciones y vosotros por las vuestras. ¡Que la paz sea con vosotros! No deseamos tratar con los ignorantes [de corazón]”.

إِنَّكَ

Indeed, you

مَنْ

whom

أَحْبَبْتَ

you love

aḥbabta

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

but

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يَهْدِى

guides

yahdī

مَن

whom

man

يَشَآءُ ۚ

He wills

yashāu

وَهُوَ

And He

wahuwa

أَعْلَمُ

(is) most knowing

aʿlamu

بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ

(of) the guided ones

bil-muh'tadīna

٥٦

Tú no puedes guiar a quien amas, sino que Dios guía a quien Él quiere. Él sabe quiénes seguirán la guía.

وَقَالُوٓا۟

And they say

waqālū

إِن

If

in

نَّتَّبِعِ

we follow

nattabiʿi

ٱلْهُدَىٰ

the guidance

l-hudā

مَعَكَ

with you

maʿaka

نُتَخَطَّفْ

we would be swept

nutakhaṭṭaf

مِنْ

from

min

أَرْضِنَآ ۚ

our land

arḍinā

أَوَلَمْ

Have not

awalam

نُمَكِّن

We established

numakkin

لَّهُمْ

for them

lahum

حَرَمًا

a sanctuary

ḥaraman

ءَامِنًۭا

secure

āminan

يُجْبَىٰٓ

are brought

yuj'bā

إِلَيْهِ

to it

ilayhi

ثَمَرَٰتُ

fruits

thamarātu

كُلِّ

(of) all

kulli

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

رِّزْقًۭا

a provision

riz'qan

مِّن

from

min

لَّدُنَّا

Us

ladunnā

وَلَـٰكِنَّ

But

walākinna

أَكْثَرَهُمْ

most of them

aktharahum

لَا

(do) not

lā

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

٥٧

Dicen: “Si seguimos la guía que has traído, seremos expulsados de nuestra tierra”. ¿Acaso no les he preparado un lugar sagrado y seguro, al cual llegan frutos de todas clases como sustento Mío? Pero la mayoría no sabe.

وَكَمْ

And how many

wakam

أَهْلَكْنَا

We have destroyed

ahlaknā

مِن

of

min

قَرْيَةٍۭ

a town

qaryatin

بَطِرَتْ

which exulted

baṭirat

مَعِيشَتَهَا ۖ

(in) its means of livelihood

maʿīshatahā

فَتِلْكَ

And these

fatil'ka

مَسَـٰكِنُهُمْ

(are) their dwellings

masākinuhum

لَمْ

not

lam

تُسْكَن

have been inhabited

tus'kan

مِّنۢ

after them

min

بَعْدِهِمْ

after them

baʿdihim

إِلَّا

except

illā

قَلِيلًۭا ۖ

a little

qalīlan

وَكُنَّا

And indeed, [We]

wakunnā

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ

(are) the inheritors

l-wārithīna

٥٨

¡Cuántos pueblos destruí porque no agradecían el favor en que vivían! Observad sus viviendas: no volvieron a ser habitadas después de ellos, salvo brevemente. Yo fui Quien las heredó.

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كَانَ

was

kāna

رَبُّكَ

your Lord

rabbuka

مُهْلِكَ

(the) one to destroy

muh'lika

ٱلْقُرَىٰ

the towns

l-qurā

حَتَّىٰ

until

ḥattā

يَبْعَثَ

He (had) sent

yabʿatha

فِىٓ

in

fī

أُمِّهَا

their mother (town)

ummihā

رَسُولًۭا

a Messenger

rasūlan

يَتْلُوا۟

reciting

yatlū

عَلَيْهِمْ

to them

ʿalayhim

ءَايَـٰتِنَا ۚ

Our Verses

āyātinā

وَمَا

And not

wamā

كُنَّا

We would be

kunnā

مُهْلِكِى

(the) one to destroy

muh'likī

ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ

the towns

l-qurā

إِلَّا

except

illā

وَأَهْلُهَا

while their people

wa-ahluhā

ظَـٰلِمُونَ

(were) wrongdoers

ẓālimūna

٥٩

Tu Señor no destruiría un pueblo sin antes enviar un Mensajero a su ciudad principal para que les trasmita Su Mensaje. Solo haría sucumbir un pueblo si ellos cometen injusticias.

وَمَآ

And whatever

wamā

أُوتِيتُم

you have been given

ūtītum

مِّن

from

min

شَىْءٍۢ

things

shayin

فَمَتَـٰعُ

(is) an enjoyment

famatāʿu

ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ

(of the) life

l-ḥayati

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

وَزِينَتُهَا ۚ

and its adornment

wazīnatuhā

وَمَا

And what

wamā

عِندَ

(is) with

ʿinda

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۚ

and more lasting

wa-abqā

أَفَلَا

So (will) not

afalā

تَعْقِلُونَ

you use intellect

taʿqilūna

٦٠

Todo aquello que se os ha concedido no es más que el simple goce de la vida mundanal y sus encantos. Pero la gracia que Dios tiene [reservada para los piadosos] es mejor y más duradera. ¿Acaso no razonáis?

أَفَمَن

Then is (he) whom

afaman

وَعَدْنَـٰهُ

We have promised him

waʿadnāhu

وَعْدًا

a promise

waʿdan

حَسَنًۭا

good

ḥasanan

فَهُوَ

and he

fahuwa

لَـٰقِيهِ

(will) meet it

lāqīhi

كَمَن

like (the one) whom

kaman

مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُ

We provided him

mattaʿnāhu

مَتَـٰعَ

enjoyment

matāʿa

ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ

(of the) life

l-ḥayati

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

هُوَ

he

huwa

يَوْمَ

(on the) Day

yawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

مِنَ

(will be) among

mina

ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ

those presented

l-muḥ'ḍarīna

٦١

¿Acaso aquel a quien le he prometido una bella promesa [el Paraíso] que verá realizada, puede compararse con aquel a quien solo le he concedido el goce de la vida mundanal y el Día de la Resurrección será de los condenados [al tormento del Infierno]?

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

wayawma

يُنَادِيهِمْ

He will call them

yunādīhim

فَيَقُولُ

and say

fayaqūlu

أَيْنَ

Where

ayna

شُرَكَآءِىَ

(are) My partners

shurakāiya

ٱلَّذِينَ

whom

alladhīna

كُنتُمْ

you used (to)

kuntum

تَزْعُمُونَ

claim

tazʿumūna

٦٢

El día que [Dios] les convoque y les pregunte: “¿Dónde están los ‘socios’ que Me atribuían?”

قَالَ

(Will) say

qāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those

alladhīna

حَقَّ

(has) come true

ḥaqqa

عَلَيْهِمُ

against whom

ʿalayhimu

ٱلْقَوْلُ

the Word

l-qawlu

رَبَّنَا

Our Lord

rabbanā

هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ

These

hāulāi

ٱلَّذِينَ

(are) those whom

alladhīna

أَغْوَيْنَآ

we led astray

aghwaynā

أَغْوَيْنَـٰهُمْ

We led them astray

aghwaynāhum

كَمَا

as

kamā

غَوَيْنَا ۖ

we were astray

ghawaynā

تَبَرَّأْنَآ

We declare our innocence

tabarranā

إِلَيْكَ ۖ

before You

ilayka

مَا

Not

mā

كَانُوٓا۟

they used (to)

kānū

إِيَّانَا

worship us

iyyānā

يَعْبُدُونَ

worship us

yaʿbudūna

٦٣

Dirán los [‘socios’] sentenciados [al Infierno]: “¡Señor nuestro! Éstos son los que desviamos. Los desviamos porque nosotros estábamos desviados. No somos responsables de sus actos, no era a nosotros a quienes adoraban”.

وَقِيلَ

And it will be said

waqīla

ٱدْعُوا۟

Call

id'ʿū

شُرَكَآءَكُمْ

your partners

shurakāakum

فَدَعَوْهُمْ

And they will call them

fadaʿawhum

فَلَمْ

but not

falam

يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟

they will respond

yastajībū

لَهُمْ

to them

lahum

وَرَأَوُا۟

and they will see

wara-awū

ٱلْعَذَابَ ۚ

the punishment

l-ʿadhāba

لَوْ

If only

law

أَنَّهُمْ

[that] they

annahum

كَانُوا۟

had been

kānū

يَهْتَدُونَ

guided

yahtadūna

٦٤

Se les dirá [a los idólatras]: “Invocad a quienes Me asociabais [para que os auxilien]”. Los invocarán, pero no habrá respuesta, y verán acercarse el castigo. ¡Si tan solo hubieran seguido la guía!

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

wayawma

يُنَادِيهِمْ

He will call them

yunādīhim

فَيَقُولُ

and say

fayaqūlu

مَاذَآ

What

mādhā

أَجَبْتُمُ

did you answer

ajabtumu

ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

the Messengers

l-mur'salīna

٦٥

El día que [Dios] los convoque y les pregunte: “¿Cuál fue vuestra respuesta al llamamiento de los Mensajeros?”

فَعَمِيَتْ

But (will) be obscure

faʿamiyat

عَلَيْهِمُ

to them

ʿalayhimu

ٱلْأَنۢبَآءُ

the information

l-anbāu

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ

that day

yawma-idhin

فَهُمْ

so they

fahum

لَا

will not ask one another

lā

يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

will not ask one another

yatasāalūna

٦٦

Ese día no sabrán qué argumentar ni podrán preguntarse unos a otros [qué responder].

فَأَمَّا

But as for

fa-ammā

مَن

(him) who

man

تَابَ

repented

tāba

وَءَامَنَ

and believed

waāmana

وَعَمِلَ

and did

waʿamila

صَـٰلِحًۭا

righteousness

ṣāliḥan

فَعَسَىٰٓ

then perhaps

faʿasā

أَن

[that]

an

يَكُونَ

he will be

yakūna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُفْلِحِينَ

the successful ones

l-muf'liḥīna

٦٧

Pero quien se haya arrepentido, haya creído y hecho obras de bien, se contará entre quienes tendrán éxito.

وَرَبُّكَ

And your Lord

warabbuka

يَخْلُقُ

creates

yakhluqu

مَا

what

mā

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَخْتَارُ ۗ

and chooses

wayakhtāru

مَا

Not

mā

كَانَ

they have

kāna

لَهُمُ

for them

lahumu

ٱلْخِيَرَةُ ۚ

the choice

l-khiyaratu

سُبْحَـٰنَ

Glory be

sub'ḥāna

ٱللَّهِ

(to) Allah

l-lahi

وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ

and High is He

wataʿālā

عَمَّا

above what

ʿammā

يُشْرِكُونَ

they associate (with Him)

Tu Señor es Quien crea y elige hacer lo que quiere, y la elección que Él hace no se somete a la opinión de nadie. ¡Glorificado sea Dios! Está por encima de lo que Le asocian.

And your Lord

يَعْلَمُ

knows

yaʿlamu

مَا

what

تُكِنُّ

conceals

صُدُورُهُمْ

their breasts

ṣudūruhum

وَمَا

and what

wamā

يُعْلِنُونَ

they declare

yuʿ'linūna

Tu Señor conoce lo que ocultan y lo que manifiestan sus corazones.

And He

(is) Allah

لَآ

(there is) no

lā

إِلَـٰهَ

god

إِلَّا

ٱلْحَمْدُ

(are due) all praises

l-ḥamdu

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأُولَىٰ

the first

l-ūlā

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ

and the last

wal-ākhirati

وَلَهُ

And for Him

walahu

ٱلْحُكْمُ

(is) the Decision

l-ḥuk'mu

وَإِلَيْهِ

and to Him

wa-ilayhi

تُرْجَعُونَ

you will be returned

tur'jaʿūna

٧٠

Él es Al-lah, no hay más divinidad que Él. A Dios pertenecen las alabanzas en esta vida y en la otra. Suyo es el juicio, y ante Él compareceréis [el Día del Juicio].

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

مَنْ

who

man

إِلَـٰهٌ

(is the) god

ilāhun

غَيْرُ

besides

ghayru

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

يَأْتِيكُم

who could bring you

yatīkum

بِضِيَآءٍ ۖ

light

biḍiyāin

أَفَلَا

Then will not

afalā

تَسْمَعُونَ

you hear

tasmaʿūna

٧١

Di [a los que niegan el monoteísmo]: “Si Dios hiciera que la noche durara hasta el Día de la Resurrección, ¿quién sino Dios podría traeros la luz del día? ¿Acaso no vais a escuchar [este argumento]?”

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

مَنْ

who

man

إِلَـٰهٌ

(is the) god

ilāhun

غَيْرُ

besides

ghayru

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

يَأْتِيكُم

who could bring you

yatīkum

بِلَيْلٍۢ

night

bilaylin

تَسْكُنُونَ

(for) you (to) rest

taskunūna

فِيهِ ۖ

in it

fīhi

أَفَلَا

Then will not

afalā

تُبْصِرُونَ

you see

tub'ṣirūna

٧٢

Di: “Si Dios hiciera que el día durara hasta el Día de la Resurrección, ¿quién sino Dios podría traeros la oscuridad de la noche para que pudierais descansar? ¿Acaso no vais a observar [este argumento]?”

And from

رَّحْمَتِهِۦ

His Mercy

raḥmatihi

جَعَلَ

He made

jaʿala

لَكُمُ

for you

lakumu

ٱلَّيْلَ

the night

al-layla

وَٱلنَّهَارَ

and the day

wal-nahāra

لِتَسْكُنُوا۟

that you may rest

litaskunū

فِيهِ

therein

fīhi

وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟

and that you may seek

walitabtaghū

مِن

from

min

فَضْلِهِۦ

His Bounty

faḍlihi

وَلَعَلَّكُمْ

and so that you may

walaʿallakum

تَشْكُرُونَ

be grateful

tashkurūna

٧٣

Por misericordia Dios creó la noche y el día para que vosotros pudierais descansar [durante la noche] y procurar [durante el día] Su favor. Deberíais ser agradecidos.

وَيَوْمَ

And (the) Day

يُنَادِيهِمْ

He will call them

فَيَقُولُ

and say

fayaqūlu

أَيْنَ

Where

شُرَكَآءِىَ

(are) My partners

ٱلَّذِينَ

whom

alladhīna

كُنتُمْ

you used (to)

kuntum

تَزْعُمُونَ

claim

tazʿumūna

٧٤

El día que [Dios] os convoque y os pregunte: “¿Dónde están los ‘socios’ que Me atribuíais?”

And We will draw forth

wanazaʿnā

مِن

from

min

كُلِّ

every

kulli

أُمَّةٍۢ

nation

ummatin

شَهِيدًۭا

a witness

shahīdan

فَقُلْنَا

and We will say

faqul'nā

هَاتُوا۟

Bring

hātū

بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ

your proof

bur'hānakum

فَعَلِمُوٓا۟

Then they will know

faʿalimū

أَنَّ

that

anna

ٱلْحَقَّ

the truth

l-ḥaqa

لِلَّهِ

(is) for Allah

lillahi

وَضَلَّ

and (will be) lost

waḍalla

عَنْهُم

from them

ʿanhum

مَّا

what

mā

كَانُوا۟

they used (to)

kānū

يَفْتَرُونَ

invent

yaftarūna

٧٥

Cuando extraiga de cada pueblo un testigo y les diga: “Presentad los fundamentos [de vuestra idolatría]”. Entonces, sabrán que la Verdad solo pertenece a Dios, y todo aquello que inventaron desaparecerá.

قَوْمِ

مُوسَىٰ

(of) Musa

فَبَغَىٰ

but he oppressed

fabaghā

عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ

[on] them

ʿalayhim

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

And We gave him

waātaynāhu

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْكُنُوزِ

the treasures

l-kunūzi

مَآ

which

mā

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

مَفَاتِحَهُۥ

(the) keys of it

mafātiḥahu

لَتَنُوٓأُ

would burden

latanūu

بِٱلْعُصْبَةِ

a company (of men)

bil-ʿuṣ'bati

أُو۟لِى

possessors of great strength

ulī

ٱلْقُوَّةِ

possessors of great strength

l-quwati

إِذْ

When

idh

قَالَ

said

qāla

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

قَوْمُهُۥ

his people

qawmuhu

لَا

(Do) not

lā

تَفْرَحْ ۖ

exult

tafraḥ

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

lā

يُحِبُّ

love

yuḥibbu

ٱلْفَرِحِينَ

the exultant

l-fariḥīna

٧٦

Qarún pertenecía al pueblo de Moisés, pero abusó de ellos. Le había concedido tantos tesoros, que hasta las llaves [de los cofres donde se guardaban] resultaban pesadas para un grupo de hombres fuertes. Pero su pueblo le dijo: “No te jactes [de lo que tienes] porque Dios no ama a los arrogantes.

وَٱبْتَغِ

But seek

wa-ib'taghi

فِيمَآ

through what

fīmā

ءَاتَىٰكَ

Allah has given you

ātāka

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has given you

l-lahu

ٱلدَّارَ

the home

l-dāra

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhirata

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَنسَ

forget

tansa

نَصِيبَكَ

your share

naṣībaka

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ

the world

l-dun'yā

وَأَحْسِن

And do good

wa-aḥsin

كَمَآ

as

kamā

أَحْسَنَ

Allah has been good

aḥsana

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has been good

l-lahu

إِلَيْكَ ۖ

to you

ilayka

وَلَا

And (do) not

walā

تَبْغِ

seek

tabghi

ٱلْفَسَادَ

corruption

l-fasāda

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ

the earth

l-arḍi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

لَا

(does) not

lā

يُحِبُّ

love

yuḥibbu

ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

the corrupters

l-muf'sidīna

٧٧

Gánate el Paraíso con lo que Dios te ha concedido, y no te olvides de que también puedes disfrutar de lo que Dios ha hecho lícito en esta vida. Sé generoso [con tu prójimo] como Dios lo es contigo, y no contamines la tierra; Dios no ama a los que contaminan [a sabiendas]”.

Only

innamā

أُوتِيتُهُۥ

I have been given it

ūtītuhu

عَلَىٰ

on (account)

ʿalā

عِلْمٍ

(of) knowledge

ʿil'min

عِندِىٓ ۚ

I have

ʿindī

أَوَلَمْ

Did not

awalam

يَعْلَمْ

he know

yaʿlam

أَنَّ

that

anna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

قَدْ

indeed

qad

أَهْلَكَ

destroyed

ahlaka

مِن

before him

min

قَبْلِهِۦ

before him

qablihi

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْقُرُونِ

the generations

l-qurūni

مَنْ

who

man

هُوَ

[they]

huwa

أَشَدُّ

(were) stronger

ashaddu

مِنْهُ

than him

min'hu

قُوَّةًۭ

(in) strength

quwwatan

وَأَكْثَرُ

and greater

wa-aktharu

جَمْعًۭا ۚ

(in) accumulation

jamʿan

وَلَا

And not

walā

يُسْـَٔلُ

will be questioned

yus'alu

عَن

about

ʿan

ذُنُوبِهِمُ

their sins

dhunūbihimu

ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

the criminals

l-muj'rimūna

٧٨

Dijo [Qarún con soberbia]: “Lo que se me ha concedido es gracias a mi conocimiento”. ¿Acaso no sabía que Dios ya había destruido naciones más poderosas y con más riquezas que él? [Debido a lo terrible de sus faltas,] a los perversos no se les preguntará por sus pecados

فَخَرَجَ

So he went forth

fakharaja

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

قَوْمِهِۦ

his people

qawmihi

فِى

in

fī

زِينَتِهِۦ ۖ

his adornment

zīnatihi

قَالَ

Said

qāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يُرِيدُونَ

desire

yurīdūna

ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ

the life

l-ḥayata

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

يَـٰلَيْتَ

O! Would that

yālayta

لَنَا

for us

lanā

مِثْلَ

(the) like

mith'la

مَآ

(of) what

mā

أُوتِىَ

has been given

ūtiya

قَـٰرُونُ

(to) Qarun

qārūnu

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, he

innahu

لَذُو

(is the) owner

ladhū

حَظٍّ

(of) fortune

ḥaẓẓin

عَظِيمٍۢ

great

ʿaẓīmin

٧٩

[Cierto día, Qarún] se presentó ante su pueblo con todo su lujo, y quienes amaban la vida mundanal exclamaron: “¡Ojalá tuviéramos lo mismo que Qarún! Él ha tenido mucha suerte”.

وَقَالَ

But said

waqāla

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أُوتُوا۟

were given

ūtū

ٱلْعِلْمَ

the knowledge

l-ʿil'ma

وَيْلَكُمْ

Woe to you

waylakum

ثَوَابُ

(The) reward

thawābu

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

لِّمَنْ

for (he) who

liman

ءَامَنَ

believes

āmana

وَعَمِلَ

and does

waʿamila

صَـٰلِحًۭا

righteous (deeds)

ṣāliḥan

وَلَا

And not

walā

يُلَقَّىٰهَآ

it is granted

yulaqqāhā

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ

(to) the patient ones

l-ṣābirūna

٨٠

Pero quienes fueron agraciados con el conocimiento dijeron: “¡Ay de vosotros! La recompensa de Dios para quien crea y haga obras de bien es superior, pero no la consiguen sino los que son pacientes”.

فَخَسَفْنَا

Then We caused to swallow up

fakhasafnā

بِهِۦ

him

bihi

وَبِدَارِهِ

and his home

wabidārihi

ٱلْأَرْضَ

the earth

l-arḍa

فَمَا

Then not

famā

كَانَ

was

kāna

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

مِن

any

min

فِئَةٍۢ

group

fi-atin

يَنصُرُونَهُۥ

(to) help him

yanṣurūnahu

مِن

besides

min

دُونِ

besides

dūni

ٱللَّهِ

Allah

l-lahi

وَمَا

and not

wamā

كَانَ

was

kāna

مِنَ

(he) of

mina

ٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَ

those who (could) defend themselves

l-muntaṣirīna

٨١

Hice que la tierra se tragara a Qarún y a su palacio, y no hubo nadie que pudiera socorrerle, ni siquiera pudo salvarse a sí mismo.

وَأَصْبَحَ

And began

wa-aṣbaḥa

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

تَمَنَّوْا۟

(had) wished

tamannaw

مَكَانَهُۥ

his position

makānahu

بِٱلْأَمْسِ

the day before

bil-amsi

يَقُولُونَ

(to) say

yaqūlūna

وَيْكَأَنَّ

Ah! That

wayka-anna

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

يَبْسُطُ

extends

yabsuṭu

ٱلرِّزْقَ

the provision

l-riz'qa

لِمَن

for whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

مِنْ

of

min

عِبَادِهِۦ

His slaves

ʿibādihi

وَيَقْدِرُ ۖ

and restricts it

wayaqdiru

لَوْلَآ

If not

lawlā

أَن

that

an

مَّنَّ

Allah had favored

manna

ٱللَّهُ

Allah had favored

l-lahu

عَلَيْنَا

[to] us

ʿalaynā

لَخَسَفَ

He would have caused it to swallow us

lakhasafa

بِنَا ۖ

He would have caused it to swallow us

binā

وَيْكَأَنَّهُۥ

Ah! That

wayka-annahu

لَا

not

lā

يُفْلِحُ

will succeed

yuf'liḥu

ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

the disbelievers

l-kāfirūna

٨٢

Quienes antes habían deseado estar en su lugar comenzaron a decir: “Dios le concede un sustento abundante a quien quiere y se lo restringe [a quien Él quiere] de Sus siervos. De no haber sido porque Dios nos ha agraciado con Su misericordia, nos hubiera tragado la tierra también a nosotros. Es muy cierto que quienes niegan la verdad nunca prosperan”.

تِلْكَ

That

til'ka

ٱلدَّارُ

the Home

l-dāru

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhiratu

نَجْعَلُهَا

We assign it

najʿaluhā

لِلَّذِينَ

to those who

lilladhīna

لَا

(do) not

lā

يُرِيدُونَ

desire

yurīdūna

عُلُوًّۭا

exaltedness

ʿuluwwan

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَلَا

and not

walā

فَسَادًۭا ۚ

corruption

fasādan

وَٱلْعَـٰقِبَةُ

And the good end

wal-ʿāqibatu

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

(is) for the righteous

lil'muttaqīna

٨٣

La morada de la otra vida [en el Paraíso] es para quienes no son soberbios ni siembran la corrupción en la Tierra. ¡Bienaventurados sean los piadosos!

Whoever

man

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ

with a good (deed)

bil-ḥasanati

فَلَهُۥ

then for him

falahu

خَيْرٌۭ

(will be) better

khayrun

مِّنْهَا ۖ

than it

min'hā

وَمَن

and whoever

waman

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ

with an evil (deed)

bil-sayi-ati

فَلَا

then not

falā

يُجْزَى

will be recompensed

yuj'zā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

عَمِلُوا۟

do

ʿamilū

ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ

the evil (deeds)

l-sayiāti

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَا

what

mā

كَانُوا۟

they used (to)

kānū

يَعْمَلُونَ

do

yaʿmalūna

٨٤

[El Día del Juicio Final,] quien se presente habiendo realizado obras buenas será recompensado más de lo merecido por ellas, pero quien se presente habiendo realizado obras malas solo será retribuido por lo que hizo.

Indeed

He Who

ٱلْقُرْءَانَ

the Quran

l-qur'āna

لَرَآدُّكَ

(will) surely take you back

larādduka

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

مَعَادٍۢ ۚ

a place of return

maʿādin

قُل

Say

qul

رَّبِّىٓ

My Lord

rabbī

أَعْلَمُ

(is) most knowing

aʿlamu

مَن

(of him) who

man

جَآءَ

comes

jāa

بِٱلْهُدَىٰ

with the guidance

bil-hudā

وَمَنْ

and who

waman

هُوَ

he

huwa

فِى

(is) in

fī

ضَلَـٰلٍۢ

an error

ḍalālin

مُّبِينٍۢ

manifest

mubīnin

٨٥

[Oh, Muhámmad,] Quien te ha ordenado el Corán, te hará regresar de la muerte a un lugar establecido [el Día del Juicio]. Diles: “Mi Señor sabe mejor que nadie quién sigue la guía y quién está en un claro desvío”.

And not

wamā

كُنتَ

you were

تَرْجُوٓا۟

expecting

tarjū

أَن

that

an

يُلْقَىٰٓ

would be sent down

yul'qā

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ

the Book

l-kitābu

إِلَّا

except

illā

رَحْمَةًۭ

(as) a mercy

raḥmatan

مِّن

from

min

رَّبِّكَ ۖ

your Lord

rabbika

فَلَا

So (do) not

falā

تَكُونَنَّ

be

takūnanna

ظَهِيرًۭا

an assistant

ẓahīran

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

to the disbelievers

lil'kāfirīna

٨٦

Tú no esperabas que fuera a serte revelado un Libro, pero por misericordia de tu Señor [te reveló el Corán]. No apoyes [contra los creyentes] a aquellos que se niegan a creer.

And (let) not

walā

يَصُدُّنَّكَ

avert you

yaṣuddunnaka

عَنْ

from

ʿan

ءَايَـٰتِ

(the) Verses

āyāti

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

بَعْدَ

after

baʿda

إِذْ

[when]

idh

أُنزِلَتْ

they have been revealed

unzilat

إِلَيْكَ ۖ

to you

ilayka

وَٱدْعُ

And invite (people)

wa-ud'ʿu

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّكَ ۖ

your Lord

rabbika

وَلَا

And (do) not

walā

تَكُونَنَّ

be

takūnanna

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

the polytheists

l-mush'rikīna

٨٧

No dejes que te aparten de los preceptos de Dios después de haberte sido revelados. Exhorta [a la gente] a adorar a tu Señor y no seas de los que Le asocian [divinidades en la adoración].

And (do) not

إِلَـٰهَ

هُوَ ۚ

Him

(will be) destroyed

وَجْهَهُۥ ۚ

His Face

wajhahu

لَهُ

To Him

lahu

ٱلْحُكْمُ

(is) the Decision

l-ḥuk'mu

وَإِلَيْهِ

and to Him

wa-ilayhi

تُرْجَعُونَ

you will be returned

tur'jaʿūna

٨٨

No invoques a nada ni nadie junto con Dios. Nadie tiene derecho a ser adorado salvo Él. Todo ha de perecer excepto Su rostro. Suyo es el juicio y ante Él compareceréis.
