وَّلَاتَ

when there (was) no longer

حِينَ

مَنَاصٍۢ

(for) escape

¡Cuántas generaciones destruí antes que ellos! Solo imploraron cuando ya era demasiado tarde para salvarse [del castigo].

And they wonder

a warner

مِّنْهُمْ ۖ

وَقَالَ

And said

waqāla

ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

the disbelievers

l-kāfirūna

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

سَـٰحِرٌۭ

(is) a magician

sāḥirun

كَذَّابٌ

a liar

kadhābun

٤

Se asombran de que les llegue un amonestador, y dicen los que se niegan a creer: “Es un hechicero mentiroso.

Has he made

ajaʿala

ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ

the gods

l-ālihata

إِلَـٰهًۭا

(into) one god

ilāhan

وَٰحِدًا ۖ

(into) one god

wāḥidan

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

لَشَىْءٌ

(is) certainly a thing

lashayon

عُجَابٌۭ

curious

ʿujābun

٥

¿Acaso pretende que en lugar de muchos ídolos adoremos a una sola divinidad? Eso es algo insólito”.

وَٱنطَلَقَ

And went forth

wa-inṭalaqa

ٱلْمَلَأُ

the chiefs

مِنْهُمْ

أَنِ

Continue

وَٱصْبِرُوا۟

and be patient

wa-iṣ'birū

عَلَىٰٓ

over

ʿalā

ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ

your gods

ālihatikum

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

لَشَىْءٌۭ

(is) certainly a thing

lashayon

يُرَادُ

intended

yurādu

٦

Los nobles y poderosos de entre ellos se marcharon diciendo: “Dejadlo, y seguid [adorando] a vuestros ídolos, pues él solo pretende obtener poder sobre nosotros.

the religion

هَـٰذَآ

(is) this

إِلَّا

but

illā

ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ

a fabrication

ikh'tilāqun

No hemos oído que el último pueblo que recibió una revelación [los cristianos] creyera en esto. Lo que dices es una gran mentira.

Has been revealed

they have tasted

¿Por qué tendría que haber sido él el elegido entre nosotros para transmitir el Mensaje?” Pero ellos dudan de Mi revelación porque no han

ٱلْوَهَّابِ

the Bestower

l-wahābi

¿Acaso ellos poseen las llaves de la misericordia de tu Señor, el Poderoso, el Dadivoso?

and whatever

wamā

بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ

(is) between them

baynahumā

فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟

Then let them ascend

falyartaqū

فِى

by

fī

ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ

the means

l-asbābi

١٠

¿O les pertenece el reino de los cielos, la Tierra y todo cuanto existe entre ambos? Si es así, que asciendan [al cielo y decidan los asuntos de la creación].

[No te entristezcas, ¡Oh, Muhámmad!, por su enemistad.] Ellos son un ejército de aliados [para combatir la Verdad], pero pronto serán derrotados.

Ya antes que ellos los pueblos de Noé, de ‘Ad y del Faraón, poseedor de un ejército poderoso, desmintieron [a los Profetas que les envié].

And Thamud

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ

and (the) companions

لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ

(of) the wood

al'aykati

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ

Those

ulāika

ٱلْأَحْزَابُ

(were) the companies

l-aḥzābu

١٣

También lo hicieron los pueblos de Zamud, Lot y los habitantes del bosque. Todos estos eran pueblos poderosos.

Todos ellos desmintieron a los Mensajeros, y merecieron Mi castigo.

صَيْحَةًۭ

مَّا

لَهَا

for it

مِن

فَوَاقٍۢ

delay

fawāqin

١٥

Solo les queda [a los idólatras] esperar el toque de la trompeta [el Día de la Resurrección], y entonces no habrá posibilidad de volver [a este mundo].

And they say

Our Lord

Hasten

ʿajjil

لَّنَا

قِطَّنَا

our share

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلْحِسَابِ

(of) the Account

١٦

Pero aun así dicen [burlándose desafiantes]: “¡Señor nuestro! Muéstranos el registro de nuestras obras y adelántanos una parte del castigo antes del Día del Juicio”.

ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ

the possessor of strength

إِنَّهُۥٓ

Indeed, he (was)

innahu

أَوَّابٌ

repeatedly turning

awwābun

١٧

Sé paciente [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] ante lo que dicen, y recuerda a Mi siervo [el profeta] David, quien fue dotado con una gran fuerza. Él siempre volvía a Dios en todos sus asuntos y se arrepentía con sinceridad.

إِنَّا

Indeed, We

innā

سَخَّرْنَا

subjected

sakharnā

ٱلْجِبَالَ

the mountains

l-jibāla

مَعَهُۥ

with him

maʿahu

يُسَبِّحْنَ

glorifying

yusabbiḥ'na

بِٱلْعَشِىِّ

in the evening

bil-ʿashiyi

وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ

and [the] sunrise

wal-ish'rāqi

١٨

Le sometí las montañas, para que junto con él glorificaran las alabanzas al anochecer y al amanecer,

And the birds

wal-ṭayra

مَحْشُورَةًۭ ۖ

assembled

maḥshūratan

كُلٌّۭ

لَّهُۥٓ

with him

أَوَّابٌۭ

repeatedly turning

awwābun

١٩

también le sometí a las aves que se congregaban en torno a él. Todos [las montañas y las aves] le obedecían.

And We strengthened

مُلْكَهُۥ

his kingdom

mul'kahu

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ

and We gave him

waātaynāhu

ٱلْحِكْمَةَ

[the] wisdom

l-ḥik'mata

وَفَصْلَ

and decisive

wafaṣla

ٱلْخِطَابِ

speech

l-khiṭābi

٢٠

Afiancé su reino, lo agracié con la sabiduría [la profecía] y un juicio certero.

And has (there)

wahal

أَتَىٰكَ

come to you

atāka

نَبَؤُا۟

(the) news

ٱلْخَصْمِ

(of) the litigants

إِذْ

تَسَوَّرُوا۟

they climbed over the wall

tasawwarū

ٱلْمِحْرَابَ

(of) the chamber

l-miḥ'rāba

Te relataré [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] la historia de los dos demandantes, cuando treparon [la pared] del templo.

When

دَخَلُوا۟

they entered

عَلَىٰ

upon

ʿalā

دَاوُۥدَ

Dawood

dāwūda

فَفَزِعَ

and he was afraid

مِنْهُمْ ۖ

of them

min'hum

قَالُوا۟

they said

qālū

لَا

(Do) not

lā

تَخَفْ ۖ

fear

takhaf

خَصْمَانِ

(We are) two litigants

khaṣmāni

بَغَىٰ

has wronged

baghā

بَعْضُنَا

one of us

baʿḍunā

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

بَعْضٍۢ

another

baʿḍin

فَٱحْكُم

so judge

fa-uḥ'kum

بَيْنَنَا

between us

baynanā

بِٱلْحَقِّ

in truth

bil-ḥaqi

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تُشْطِطْ

be unjust

tush'ṭiṭ

وَٱهْدِنَآ

and guide us

wa-ih'dinā

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

سَوَآءِ

an even

sawāi

ٱلصِّرَٰطِ

[the] path

l-ṣirāṭi

٢٢

Cuando se presentaron ante David, este se atemorizó de ellos. Le dijeron: “No temas, solo somos dos demandantes, uno ha sido injusto con el otro; juzga entre nosotros con equidad, sé imparcial y guíanos hacia el camino correcto.

وَٰحِدَةٌۭ

one

wāḥidatun

فَقَالَ

so he said

faqāla

أَكْفِلْنِيهَا

Entrust her to me

akfil'nīhā

وَعَزَّنِى

and he overpowered me

waʿazzanī

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْخِطَابِ

[the] speech

l-khiṭābi

٢٣

Este es mi hermano, posee noventa y nueve ovejas, y yo tengo una sola; y me dijo: ‘Deja que yo me haga cargo de ella’, y ahora me supera con sus argumentos [para quedarse con ella]”.

he has wronged you

by demanding

نَعْجَتِكَ

نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ

his ewes

niʿājihi

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

كَثِيرًۭا

many

kathīran

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ

the partners

l-khulaṭāi

لَيَبْغِى

certainly oppress

layabghī

بَعْضُهُمْ

some of them

baʿḍuhum

عَلَىٰ

[on]

ʿalā

بَعْضٍ

another

baʿḍin

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

وَقَلِيلٌۭ

and few

waqalīlun

مَّا

(are) they

mā

هُمْ ۗ

(are) they

hum

وَظَنَّ

And became certain

waẓanna

دَاوُۥدُ

Dawood

dāwūdu

أَنَّمَا

that

annamā

فَتَنَّـٰهُ

We (had) tried him

fatannāhu

فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ

and he asked forgiveness

fa-is'taghfara

رَبَّهُۥ

(of) his Lord

rabbahu

وَخَرَّ

and fell down

wakharra

رَاكِعًۭا

bowing

rākiʿan

وَأَنَابَ ۩

and turned in repentance

wa-anāba

٢٤

Dijo David [sin escuchar al otro demandante]: “Él ha sido injusto contigo al pedirte que dejes que tu oveja se sume a las de él; muchos socios se perjudican unos a otros, excepto los que creen y obran rectamente; pero, ¡qué pocos son!” David comprendió que quise ponerlo a prueba [mediante este juicio], y pidió perdón a su Señor, se prosternó y se arrepintió.

فَغَفَرْنَا

So We forgave

faghafarnā

لَهُۥ

for him

ذَٰلِكَ ۖ

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

لَهُۥ

for him

عِندَنَا

with Us

ʿindanā

لَزُلْفَىٰ

surely is a near access

lazul'fā

وَحُسْنَ

and a good

waḥus'na

مَـَٔابٍۢ

place of return

maābin

٢٥

Lo perdoné, pues es de los más allegados a Mí, y tendrá [en la otra vida] una bella morada [en el Paraíso].

O Dawood

إِنَّا

Indeed, We

جَعَلْنَـٰكَ

[We] have made you

jaʿalnāka

خَلِيفَةًۭ

a vicegerent

khalīfatan

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

فَٱحْكُم

so judge

fa-uḥ'kum

بَيْنَ

between

bayna

ٱلنَّاسِ

[the] men

l-nāsi

بِٱلْحَقِّ

in truth

bil-ḥaqi

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَتَّبِعِ

follow

tattabiʿi

ٱلْهَوَىٰ

the desire

l-hawā

فَيُضِلَّكَ

for it will lead you astray

fayuḍillaka

عَن

from

ʿan

سَبِيلِ

(the) way

sabīli

ٱللَّهِ ۚ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

يَضِلُّونَ

go astray

yaḍillūna

عَن

from

ʿan

سَبِيلِ

(the) way

sabīli

ٱللَّهِ

(of) Allah

l-lahi

لَهُمْ

for them

lahum

عَذَابٌۭ

(is) a punishment

ʿadhābun

شَدِيدٌۢ

severe

shadīdun

بِمَا

because

bimā

نَسُوا۟

they forgot

nasū

يَوْمَ

(the) Day

yawma

ٱلْحِسَابِ

(of) Account

l-ḥisābi

٢٦

¡Oh, David! Te he designado gobernante en la Tierra, juzga con equidad entre la gente y no sigas las pasiones, pues ellas desvían del sendero de Dios; y quienes se desvíen del sendero de Dios sepan que recibirán un castigo severo por haberse olvidado del Día del Juicio.

خَلَقْنَا

We created

khalaqnā

ٱلسَّمَآءَ

the heaven

l-samāa

وَٱلْأَرْضَ

and the earth

wal-arḍa

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

بَيْنَهُمَا

(is) between them

baynahumā

بَـٰطِلًۭا ۚ

without purpose

bāṭilan

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

ظَنُّ

(is the) assumption

ẓannu

ٱلَّذِينَ

(of) those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ

disbelieve

kafarū

فَوَيْلٌۭ

So woe

fawaylun

لِّلَّذِينَ

to those

lilladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

who disbelieve

kafarū

مِنَ

from

mina

ٱلنَّارِ

the Fire

l-nāri

٢٧

No he creado el cielo, la Tierra y todo cuanto hay entre ambos en vano. Eso es lo que creen los que rechazan la verdad, pero ¡ay de los incrédulos! ¡Qué [castigo les aguarda en] el Infierno!

Or

am

نَجْعَلُ

should We treat

najʿalu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believe

āmanū

وَعَمِلُوا۟

and do

waʿamilū

ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

righteous deeds

l-ṣāliḥāti

كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

like those who spread corruption

kal-muf'sidīna

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

أَمْ

Or

am

نَجْعَلُ

should We treat

najʿalu

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

the pious

l-mutaqīna

كَٱلْفُجَّارِ

like the wicked

kal-fujāri

٢٨

¿Acaso sería propio de Mí considerar a los creyentes que obran rectamente igual que a los que siembran la corrupción en la Tierra, o considerar a los que tienen temor de Dios igual que a los inmorales?

كِتَـٰبٌ

(This is) a Book

kitābun

أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ

We have revealed it

anzalnāhu

إِلَيْكَ

to you

ilayka

مُبَـٰرَكٌۭ

blessed

mubārakun

لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟

that they may ponder

liyaddabbarū

ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ

(over) its Verses

āyātihi

وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ

and may be reminded

waliyatadhakkara

أُو۟لُوا۟

those of understanding

ulū

ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ

those of understanding

l-albābi

٢٩

Este Libro que te revelo [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] encierra grandes bendiciones, para que mediten sobre sus signos y reflexionen los dotados de intelecto.

وَوَهَبْنَا

And We gave

wawahabnā

لِدَاوُۥدَ

to Dawood

lidāwūda

سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ

Sulaiman

sulaymāna

نِعْمَ

an excellent

niʿ'ma

ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ

slave

l-ʿabdu

إِنَّهُۥٓ

Indeed, he

innahu

أَوَّابٌ

(was) one who repeatedly turned

awwābun

٣٠

Agracié a David con [su hijo] Salomón, quien fue un siervo excelente, pues volvía a Mí en todos sus asuntos y se arrepentía con sinceridad.

When

عُرِضَ

were displayed

ʿuriḍa

عَلَيْهِ

to him

ʿalayhi

بِٱلْعَشِىِّ

in the afternoon

bil-ʿashiyi

ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ

excellent bred steeds

l-ṣāfinātu

ٱلْجِيَادُ

excellent bred steeds

l-jiyādu

٣١

Una tarde fueron expuestos delante de él unos hermosos caballos,

فَقَالَ

And he said

faqāla

إِنِّىٓ

Indeed, I

innī

أَحْبَبْتُ

[I] preferred

aḥbabtu

حُبَّ

(the) love

ḥubba

ٱلْخَيْرِ

(of) the good

l-khayri

عَن

over

ʿan

ذِكْرِ

(the) remembrance

dhik'ri

رَبِّى

(of) my Lord

rabbī

حَتَّىٰ

Until

ḥattā

تَوَارَتْ

they were hidden

tawārat

بِٱلْحِجَابِ

in the veil

bil-ḥijābi

٣٢

[luego de permanecer toda la tarde jugando con ellos descuidó la oración, y entonces Salomón] dijo: “Cómo he podido preferir estos caballos al recuerdo de Dios hasta que el Sol se ocultó”.

رُدُّوهَا

Return them

ruddūhā

عَلَىَّ ۖ

to me

ʿalayya

فَطَفِقَ

Then he began

faṭafiqa

مَسْحًۢا

(to) pass (his hand)

masḥan

بِٱلسُّوقِ

over the legs

bil-sūqi

وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ

and the necks

wal-aʿnāqi

٣٣

[Dijo Salomón:] “Traédmelos”. Y acarició sus cuellos y sus patas.

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

فَتَنَّا

We tried

fatannā

سُلَيْمَـٰنَ

Sulaiman

sulaymāna

وَأَلْقَيْنَا

and We placed

wa-alqaynā

عَلَىٰ

on

ʿalā

كُرْسِيِّهِۦ

his throne

kur'siyyihi

جَسَدًۭا

a body

jasadan

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

أَنَابَ

he turned

anāba

٣٤

Puse a prueba a Salomón [despojándolo de su reino] cuando puse en su trono un demonio con figura humana [que disponía de su reino como quería]. Entonces, [Salomón] se dirigió a su Señor

He said

رَبِّ

O my Lord

rabbi

ٱغْفِرْ

Forgive

igh'fir

لِى

me

lī

وَهَبْ

and grant

wahab

لِى

me

lī

مُلْكًۭا

a kingdom

mul'kan

لَّا

not

lā

يَنۢبَغِى

(will) belong

yanbaghī

لِأَحَدٍۢ

to anyone

li-aḥadin

مِّنۢ

after me

min

بَعْدِىٓ ۖ

after me

baʿdī

إِنَّكَ

Indeed, You

innaka

أَنتَ

[You]

anta

ٱلْوَهَّابُ

(are) the Bestower

l-wahābu

٣٥

y exclamó: “¡Señor mío! Perdóname y concédeme un reino [tan poderoso], que nadie pueda igualarlo después de mí; Tú eres el Dadivoso”.

فَسَخَّرْنَا

Then We subjected

fasakharnā

لَهُ

to him

lahu

ٱلرِّيحَ

the wind

l-rīḥa

تَجْرِى

to flow

tajrī

بِأَمْرِهِۦ

by his command

bi-amrihi

رُخَآءً

gently

rukhāan

حَيْثُ

wherever

ḥaythu

أَصَابَ

he directed

aṣāba

٣٦

Entonces puse a su servicio el viento, que corría según su orden adonde él quisiera,

وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ

And the devils

wal-shayāṭīna

كُلَّ

every

kulla

بَنَّآءٍۢ

builder

bannāin

وَغَوَّاصٍۢ

and diver

waghawwāṣin

٣٧

y a los yinn, algunos [creyentes] para la construcción, otros como buzos [que extraían perlas],

And others

waākharīna

مُقَرَّنِينَ

bound

muqarranīna

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْأَصْفَادِ

chains

l-aṣfādi

٣٨

y otros [demonios rebeldes] encadenados unos con otros.

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

عَطَآؤُنَا

(is) Our gift

ʿaṭāunā

فَٱمْنُنْ

so grant

fa-um'nun

أَوْ

or

aw

أَمْسِكْ

withhold

amsik

بِغَيْرِ

without

bighayri

حِسَابٍۢ

account

ḥisābin

٣٩

[Le dije:] “Éste es el reino con el que te he agraciado; haz uso de él como quieras, pues no deberás rendir cuenta de ello”.

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

لَهُۥ

for him

lahu

عِندَنَا

with Us

ʿindanā

لَزُلْفَىٰ

surely is a near access

lazul'fā

وَحُسْنَ

and a good

waḥus'na

مَـَٔابٍۢ

place of return

maābin

٤٠

Salomón es de Mis allegados, y por eso [en la otra vida] tendrá una bella morada [en el Paraíso].

وَٱذْكُرْ

And remember

wa-udh'kur

عَبْدَنَآ

Our slave

ʿabdanā

أَيُّوبَ

Ayyub

ayyūba

إِذْ

when

idh

نَادَىٰ

he called

nādā

رَبَّهُۥٓ

his Lord

rabbahu

أَنِّى

That [I]

annī

مَسَّنِىَ

(has) touched me

massaniya

ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ

Shaitaan

l-shayṭānu

بِنُصْبٍۢ

with distress

binuṣ'bin

وَعَذَابٍ

and suffering

waʿadhābin

٤١

Recuerda a Mi siervo [el profeta] Job, cuando invocó a su Señor: “El demonio se aprovecha de mi enfermedad y sufrimiento [para tentarme a ser desagradecido contigo]”.

ٱرْكُضْ

Strike

ur'kuḍ

بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ

with your foot

birij'lika

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

مُغْتَسَلٌۢ

(is a spring of) water to bathe

mugh'tasalun

بَارِدٌۭ

cool

bāridun

وَشَرَابٌۭ

and a drink

washarābun

٤٢

[Le dije:] “Golpea con tu pie [en la tierra], y haré surgir agua fresca para que te laves con ella y también bebas”.

وَوَهَبْنَا

And We granted

wawahabnā

لَهُۥٓ

[to] him

lahu

أَهْلَهُۥ

his family

ahlahu

وَمِثْلَهُم

and a like of them

wamith'lahum

مَّعَهُمْ

with them

maʿahum

رَحْمَةًۭ

a Mercy

raḥmatan

مِّنَّا

from Us

minnā

وَذِكْرَىٰ

and a Reminder

wadhik'rā

لِأُو۟لِى

for those of understanding

li-ulī

ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ

for those of understanding

l-albābi

٤٣

Lo agracié con hijos [como los que tenía] y tantos más, como una misericordia mía, para que sea un recuerdo y motivo de reflexión para los dotados de intelecto.

وَخُذْ

And take

wakhudh

بِيَدِكَ

in your hand

biyadika

ضِغْثًۭا

a bunch

ḍigh'than

فَٱضْرِب

and strike

fa-iḍ'rib

بِّهِۦ

with it

bihi

وَلَا

and (do) not

walā

تَحْنَثْ ۗ

break (your) oath

taḥnath

إِنَّا

Indeed, We

innā

وَجَدْنَـٰهُ

[We] found him

wajadnāhu

صَابِرًۭا ۚ

patient

ṣābiran

نِّعْمَ

an excellent

niʿ'ma

ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ

slave

l-ʿabdu

إِنَّهُۥٓ

Indeed, he

innahu

أَوَّابٌۭ

repeatedly turned

awwābun

٤٤

[Le ordené:] “Toma en tu mano un manojo de hierbas y golpea [simbólicamente] con él a tu esposa, para que no perjures”. Job fue paciente [ante todas las adversidades]. ¡Qué excelente siervo; volvía a Dios en todos sus asuntos y se arrepentía con sinceridad!

وَٱذْكُرْ

And remember

wa-udh'kur

عِبَـٰدَنَآ

Our slaves

ʿibādanā

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

Ibrahim

ib'rāhīma

وَإِسْحَـٰقَ

and Isaac

wa-is'ḥāqa

وَيَعْقُوبَ

and Ayyub

wayaʿqūba

أُو۟لِى

possessors

ulī

ٱلْأَيْدِى

(of) strength

l-aydī

وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ

and vision

wal-abṣāri

٤٥

Recuerda a Mis siervos Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, todos ellos dotados de firmeza y visión.

إِنَّآ

Indeed, We

innā

أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم

[We] chose them

akhlaṣnāhum

بِخَالِصَةٍۢ

for an exclusive (quality)

bikhāliṣatin

ذِكْرَى

remembrance

dhik'rā

ٱلدَّارِ

(of) the Home

l-dāri

٤٦

Los distinguí encomendándoles [transmitir el Mensaje y] recordar a la gente la morada de la otra vida.

وَإِنَّهُمْ

And indeed, they

wa-innahum

عِندَنَا

to Us

ʿindanā

لَمِنَ

(are) from

lamina

ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ

the chosen ones

l-muṣ'ṭafayna

ٱلْأَخْيَارِ

the best

l-akhyāri

٤٧

Ellos se cuentan entre los virtuosos que he elegido [para transmitir el Mensaje].

وَٱذْكُرْ

And remember

wa-udh'kur

إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ

Ishmael

is'māʿīla

وَٱلْيَسَعَ

and Elisha

wal-yasaʿa

وَذَا

and Dhul-kifl

wadhā

ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ

and Dhul-kifl

l-kif'li

وَكُلٌّۭ

and all

wakullun

مِّنَ

(are) from

mina

ٱلْأَخْيَارِ

the best

l-akhyāri

٤٨

Y recuerda a Ismael, Eliseo y Dhul Kifl; todos ellos también se contaron entre los virtuosos [que elegí para trasmitir el Mensaje].

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

ذِكْرٌۭ ۚ

(is) a Reminder

dhik'run

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

for the righteous

lil'muttaqīna

لَحُسْنَ

surely, is a good

laḥus'na

مَـَٔابٍۢ

place of return

maābin

٤٩

Este es un Mensaje [para toda la humanidad]. Los piadosos tendrán una bella morada

Gardens

jannāti

عَدْنٍۢ

(of) Eternity

ʿadnin

مُّفَتَّحَةًۭ

(will be) opened

mufattaḥatan

لَّهُمُ

for them

lahumu

ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ

the gates

l-abwābu

٥٠

en los Jardines del Edén. Todas sus puertas estarán abiertas para ellos.

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ

Reclining

muttakiīna

فِيهَا

therein

fīhā

يَدْعُونَ

they will call

yadʿūna

فِيهَا

therein

بِفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ

for fruit

bifākihatin

كَثِيرَةٍۢ

many

kathīratin

وَشَرَابٍۢ

and drink

washarābin

٥١

Estarán recostados [sobre sofás], y pedirán frutas abundantes y [exquisitas] bebidas,

۞ وَعِندَهُمْ

And with them

waʿindahum

قَـٰصِرَٰتُ

(will be) companions of modest gaze

qāṣirātu

ٱلطَّرْفِ

(will be) companions of modest gaze

l-ṭarfi

أَتْرَابٌ

well-matched

atrābun

٥٢

acompañados de doncellas [huríes] de mirar recatado, que tendrán siempre la misma edad.

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

مَا

(is) what

تُوعَدُونَ

you are promised

tūʿadūna

لِيَوْمِ

for (the) Day

liyawmi

ٱلْحِسَابِ

(of) Account

Esto es lo que se os ha prometido [¡Oh, creyentes!, como recompensa] para el Día del Juicio.

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

لَرِزْقُنَا

(is) surely Our provision

lariz'qunā

مَا

not

mā

لَهُۥ

for it

lahu

مِن

any

min

نَّفَادٍ

depletion

nafādin

٥٤

Ese es Mi sustento, que jamás se agotará.

هَـٰذَا ۚ

This (is so)

hādhā

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

لِلطَّـٰغِينَ

for the transgressors

lilṭṭāghīna

لَشَرَّ

surely (is) an evil

lasharra

مَـَٔابٍۢ

place of return

maābin

٥٥

¡Así será! En cambio, para los que cometan injusticias habrá una horrible morada.

جَهَنَّمَ

Hell

jahannama

يَصْلَوْنَهَا

they will burn therein

yaṣlawnahā

فَبِئْسَ

and wretched (is)

fabi'sa

ٱلْمِهَادُ

the resting place

l-mihādu

Este es el Infierno donde sufrirán. ¡Qué pésima morada!

هَـٰذَا

This (is so)

hādhā

فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ

Then let them taste it

falyadhūqūhu

حَمِيمٌۭ

boiling fluid

ḥamīmun

وَغَسَّاقٌۭ

and purulence

waghassāqun

٥٧

¡Esto será así! Sufrirán, y allí solo beberán agua hirviendo y las secreciones de las heridas [de quienes son atormentados en el Infierno].

And other

شَكْلِهِۦٓ

its type

أَزْوَٰجٌ

(of various) kinds

También recibirán otros castigos similares.

فَوْجٌۭ

(is) a company

fawjun

مُّقْتَحِمٌۭ

bursting

muq'taḥimun

مَّعَكُمْ ۖ

(in) with you

maʿakum

لَا

مَرْحَبًۢا

welcome

marḥaban

بِهِمْ ۚ

for them

bihim

إِنَّهُمْ

Indeed, they

innahum

صَالُوا۟

(will) burn

ṣālū

ٱلنَّارِ

(in) the Fire

l-nāri

٥٩

[Dirán los ángeles guardianes del Infierno a los líderes de la incredulidad:] “Este es otro grupo [de vuestros seguidores] que se precipitará con vosotros [al Infierno]”. [Dirán los líderes:] “Hoy no hay bienvenida para ellos porque arderán en el fuego del Infierno”.

They say

بِكُمْ ۖ

brought this

لَنَا ۖ

upon us

lanā

فَبِئْسَ

So wretched (is)

fabi'sa

ٱلْقَرَارُ

the settlement

l-qarāru

٦٠

Dirán [los seguidores]: “Tampoco hay bienvenida para vosotros, pues fuisteis quienes nos arrastrasteis [al Infierno]”. ¡Qué pésima morada [para todos ellos]!

They will say

رَبَّنَا

Our Lord

rabbanā

مَن

whoever

قَدَّمَ

brought

qaddama

لَنَا

upon us

هَـٰذَا

this

فَزِدْهُ

increase for him

fazid'hu

عَذَابًۭا

a punishment

ʿadhāban

ضِعْفًۭا

double

ḍiʿ'fan

فِى

in

fī

ٱلنَّارِ

the Fire

l-nāri

٦١

Dirán [los seguidores]: “¡Señor nuestro! Duplícales el castigo del Fuego a quienes nos arrastraron a esto”.

وَقَالُوا۟

And they (will) say

waqālū

مَا

What (is)

mā

لَنَا

for us

lanā

لَا

نَرَىٰ

we see

narā

رِجَالًۭا

men

rijālan

كُنَّا

we used to

kunnā

نَعُدُّهُم

count them

naʿudduhum

مِّنَ

among

mina

ٱلْأَشْرَارِ

the bad ones

l-ashrāri

٦٢

Dirán [los líderes de la incredulidad]: “¿Qué sucede que no vemos a las personas que considerábamos los malvados?

أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ

Did we take them

attakhadhnāhum

سِخْرِيًّا

(in) ridicule

sikh'riyyan

أَمْ

or

am

زَاغَتْ

has turned away

zāghat

عَنْهُمُ

from them

ʿanhumu

ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ

the vision

l-abṣāru

٦٣

¿Acaso nos equivocamos al burlarnos de ellos? ¿O es que están [con nosotros en el Infierno] pero no los vemos?”

Indeed

ذَٰلِكَ

that

لَحَقٌّۭ

(is) surely (the) truth

laḥaqqun

تَخَاصُمُ

(the) quarreling

takhāṣumu

أَهْلِ

(of the) people

ٱلنَّارِ

(of) the Fire

l-nāri

٦٤

Así será la disputa entre los moradores del Infierno.

إِنَّمَآ

Only

innamā

أَنَا۠

I am

مُنذِرٌۭ ۖ

a warner

mundhirun

وَمَا

and not

wamā

مِنْ

(is there) any

إِلَـٰهٍ

god

ilāhin

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱللَّهُ

Allah

l-lahu

ٱلْوَٰحِدُ

the One

l-wāḥidu

ٱلْقَهَّارُ

the Irresistible

l-qahāru

٦٥

Diles [¡Oh, Muhámmad!]: “Solo soy un amonestador. No existe nada ni nadie con derecho a ser adorado salvo Dios, el Único, el Victorioso,

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

ٱلْعَزِيزُ

the All-Mighty

l-ʿazīzu

ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ

the Oft-Forgiving

l-ghafāru

٦٦

Señor de los cielos, de la Tierra, y de todo cuanto existe entre ellos, el Poderoso, el Remisorio”.

يَخْتَصِمُونَ

they were disputing

yakhtaṣimūna

٦٩

[Antes de la revelación] yo no tenía conocimiento acerca de la corte elevada [de ángeles] cuando discutían [sobre la creación de Adán].

يُوحَىٰٓ

أَنَّمَآ

that only

annamā

أَنَا۠

I am

anā

نَذِيرٌۭ

a warner

nadhīrun

مُّبِينٌ

clear

mubīnun

٧٠

to the Angels

Indeed, I Am

going to create

khāliqun

بَشَرًۭا

a human being

basharan

مِّن

from

min

طِينٍۢ

clay

ṭīnin

٧١

Recuerda [¡Oh, Muhámmad!] cuando tu Señor dijo a los ángeles: “Voy a crear un ser humano de barro.

فَإِذَا

So when

fa-idhā

سَوَّيْتُهُۥ

I have proportioned him

sawwaytuhu

وَنَفَخْتُ

and breathed

wanafakhtu

فِيهِ

into him

fīhi

مِن

of

min

رُّوحِى

My spirit

rūḥī

فَقَعُوا۟

then fall down

faqaʿū

لَهُۥ

to him

lahu

سَـٰجِدِينَ

prostrating

sājidīna

٧٢

Y cuando lo haya plasmado y haya soplado en él su espíritu, haced una reverencia [en obediencia a Mí] ante él”.

فَسَجَدَ

So prostrated

fasajada

ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ

the Angels

l-malāikatu

كُلُّهُمْ

all of them

kulluhum

أَجْمَعُونَ

together

ajmaʿūna

Todos los ángeles hicieron la reverencia.

Except

إِبْلِيسَ

Iblis

ib'līsa

ٱسْتَكْبَرَ

he was arrogant

is'takbara

وَكَانَ

and became

wakāna

مِنَ

ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

the disbelievers

l-kāfirīna

٧٤

Excepto Iblís, quien fue soberbio y se contó entre los incrédulos.

يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ

O Iblis

yāib'līsu

مَا

What

mā

مَنَعَكَ

prevented you

manaʿaka

أَن

تَسْجُدَ

you (should) prostrate

tasjuda

لِمَا

to (one) whom

limā

خَلَقْتُ

I created

khalaqtu

بِيَدَىَّ ۖ

with My Hands

biyadayya

أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ

Are you arrogant

astakbarta

أَمْ

or

am

كُنتَ

are you

kunta

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلْعَالِينَ

the exalted ones

l-ʿālīna

٧٥

Dijo Dios: “¡Iblís! ¿Qué te impide hacer una reverencia ante lo que creé con Mis dos manos? ¿Te niegas a hacerlo por soberbia o porque te crees un ser superior?”

He said

أَنَا۠

I am

anā

خَيْرٌۭ

better

khayrun

مِّنْهُ ۖ

than him

min'hu

خَلَقْتَنِى

You created me

khalaqtanī

مِن

from

min

نَّارٍۢ

fire

nārin

وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ

and You created him

wakhalaqtahu

مِن

from

min

طِينٍۢ

clay

ṭīnin

٧٦

Dijo [Iblís]: “Yo soy superior a él. A mí me creaste de fuego, mientras que a él lo creaste de barro”.

He said

فَٱخْرُجْ

Then get out

fa-ukh'ruj

مِنْهَا

of it

min'hā

فَإِنَّكَ

for indeed, you

fa-innaka

رَجِيمٌۭ

(are) accursed

Dijo Dios: “Sal de aquí, pues te maldigo.

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

عَلَيْكَ

upon you

ʿalayka

لَعْنَتِىٓ

(is) My curse

laʿnatī

إِلَىٰ

until

ilā

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلدِّينِ

(of) Judgment

l-dīni

٧٨

Y esta maldición pesará sobre ti hasta el Día del Juicio”.

He said

رَبِّ

My Lord

rabbi

فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ

Then give me respite

fa-anẓir'nī

إِلَىٰ

until

ilā

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

يُبْعَثُونَ

they are resurrected

yub'ʿathūna

٧٩

Dijo [Iblís]: “¡Señor mío! Permíteme vivir hasta el Día de la Resurrección”.

قَالَ

He said

qāla

فَإِنَّكَ

Then indeed, you

fa-innaka

مِنَ

(are) of

mina

ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ

those given respite

l-munẓarīna

٨٠

Dijo Dios: “Te concedo la prórroga que Me pides,

Until

ilā

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلْوَقْتِ

(of) the time

l-waqti

ٱلْمَعْلُومِ

well-known

l-maʿlūmi

فَبِعِزَّتِكَ

Then by Your might

fabiʿizzatika

لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ

I will surely mislead them

la-ugh'wiyannahum

أَجْمَعِينَ

all

ajmaʿīna

Dijo [Iblís]: “¡Juro por Tu poder que los descarriaré a todos,

عِبَادَكَ

Your slaves

ʿibādaka

مِنْهُمُ

among them

min'humu

ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ

the chosen ones

فَٱلْحَقُّ

Then (it is) the truth

fal-ḥaqu

وَٱلْحَقَّ

and the truth

wal-ḥaqa

أَقُولُ

Dijo Dios: “La verdad es [lo que he jurado], y la verdad declaro:

Surely I will fill

أَجْمَعِينَ

all

He de llenar el Infierno contigo y todos los que te sigan”.

Diles [¡Oh, Muhámmad!]: “Yo no os pido ninguna remuneración a cambio [de transmitiros el Mensaje], ni soy de los que inventan mentiras.
