النجم

وَٱلنَّجْمِ

By the star

wal-najmi

إِذَا

when

idhā

هَوَىٰ

it goes down

hawā

[Juro] por la estrella cuando desaparece

فَٱسْتَوَىٰ

And he rose

بِٱلْأُفُقِ

(was) in the horizon

bil-ufuqi

ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Then

thumma

دَنَا

he approached

فَتَدَلَّىٰ

and came down

٨

y luego descendió y se acercó a él,

قَوْسَيْنِ

(of) two bow-(lengths)

أَوْ

ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

Junto al azufaifo que demarca el límite,

ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ

Cuando al azufaifo lo cubrió lo que lo cubrió,

١٨

Porque contempló algunos de los signos más sublimes de su Señor.

So have you seen

ٱللَّـٰتَ

the Lat

وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ

and the Uzza

wal-ʿuzā

١٩

¿Cómo es que adoran a [los ídolos] Lat, a ‘Uzza

And Manat

ٱلثَّالِثَةَ

the third

ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ

y a Manat, la tercera?

Is for you

ٱلذَّكَرُ

وَلَهُ

and for Him

ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

Para vosotros los hijos varones y para Dios las hijas mujeres.

(is) a division

إِلَّآ

أَسْمَآءٌۭ

وَءَابَآؤُكُم

and your forefathers

waābāukum

مَّآ

not

mā

أَنزَلَ

has Allah sent down

anzala

ٱللَّهُ

has Allah sent down

l-lahu

بِهَا

for it

bihā

مِن

any

min

سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ

authority

sul'ṭānin

إِن

Not

in

يَتَّبِعُونَ

they follow

yattabiʿūna

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلظَّنَّ

assumption

l-ẓana

وَمَا

and what

wamā

تَهْوَى

desire

tahwā

ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ

the(ir) souls

l-anfusu

وَلَقَدْ

And certainly

walaqad

جَآءَهُم

has come to them

jāahum

مِّن

from

min

رَّبِّهِمُ

their Lord

rabbihimu

ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ

the guidance

l-hudā

٢٣

[Esos tres ídolos] son solo nombres que vosotros y vuestros padres habéis inventado, porque Dios no os dio autoridad alguna para ello. [Los idólatras] solo siguen suposiciones impulsados por sus propias pasiones, a pesar de haberles llegado la guía de su Señor.

Or

am

لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ

(is) for man

lil'insāni

مَا

what

mā

تَمَنَّىٰ

he wishes

tamannā

٢٤

¿Acaso cree el ser humano que obtendrá todo cuanto ambiciona?

فَلِلَّهِ

But for Allah

falillahi

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ

(is) the last

l-ākhiratu

وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

and the first

wal-ūlā

٢٥

A Dios le pertenecen esta vida y la otra.

۞ وَكَم

And how many

wakam

مِّن

of

min

مَّلَكٍۢ

(the) Angels

malakin

فِى

in

fī

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

لَا

تُغْنِى

will avail

tugh'nī

شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ

their intercession

shafāʿatuhum

شَيْـًٔا

anything

shayan

إِلَّا

except

illā

مِنۢ

after

min

بَعْدِ

after

baʿdi

أَن

[that]

an

يَأْذَنَ

Allah has given permission

yadhana

ٱللَّهُ

Allah has given permission

l-lahu

لِمَن

for whom

liman

يَشَآءُ

He wills

yashāu

وَيَرْضَىٰٓ

and approves

wayarḍā

٢٦

¿Cuántos ángeles hay en los cielos cuya intercesión no servirá de nada, salvo que Dios lo permita en favor de quien Él quiera y de quien esté complacido?

Indeed

inna

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

لَا

(do) not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

believe

yu'minūna

بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

in the Hereafter

bil-ākhirati

لَيُسَمُّونَ

surely they name

layusammūna

ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ

the Angels

l-malāikata

تَسْمِيَةَ

name(s)

tasmiyata

ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

(of) female

l-unthā

٢٧

Quienes no creen en la otra vida, le dan a los ángeles nombres femeninos

وَمَا

And not

wamā

لَهُم

for them

lahum

بِهِۦ

about it

bihi

مِنْ

any

min

عِلْمٍ ۖ

knowledge

ʿil'min

إِن

Not

in

يَتَّبِعُونَ

they follow

إِلَّا

but

illā

ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ

assumption

l-ẓana

وَإِنَّ

And indeed

wa-inna

ٱلظَّنَّ

the assumption

l-ẓana

لَا

(does) not

lā

يُغْنِى

avail

yugh'nī

مِنَ

against

mina

ٱلْحَقِّ

the truth

l-ḥaqi

شَيْـًۭٔا

anything

shayan

٢٨

sin tener ningún conocimiento sobre ello. Solo siguen conjeturas, pero las conjeturas carecen de valor frente a la Verdad.

فَأَعْرِضْ

So turn away

fa-aʿriḍ

عَن

ʿan

مَّن

تَوَلَّىٰ

Our Reminder

وَلَمْ

and not

walam

يُرِدْ

he desires

yurid

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ

the life

l-ḥayata

ٱلدُّنْيَا

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

٢٩

Apártate de quienes rechazan Mi Mensaje y no desean sino [el materialismo de] la vida mundanal.

ذَٰلِكَ

That

dhālika

مَبْلَغُهُم

(is) their sum

mablaghuhum

مِّنَ

of

mina

ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ

knowledge

l-ʿil'mi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبَّكَ

your Lord

rabbaka

هُوَ

(is) He (Who)

huwa

أَعْلَمُ

knows best

aʿlamu

بِمَن

(he) who

biman

ضَلَّ

strays

ḍalla

عَن

from

ʿan

سَبِيلِهِۦ

His Path

sabīlihi

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

أَعْلَمُ

knows best

aʿlamu

بِمَنِ

(he) who

bimani

ٱهْتَدَىٰ

is guided

ih'tadā

٣٠

Ese es el único conocimiento que les interesa alcanzar. Tu Señor bien sabe quién se extravía de Su camino y quién se encamina.

وَلِلَّهِ

And for Allah

walillahi

مَا

(is) whatever

mā

فِى

(is) in

fī

ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ

the heavens

l-samāwāti

وَمَا

and whatever

wamā

فِى

(is) in

fī

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

لِيَجْزِىَ

that He may recompense

liyajziya

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟

do evil

asāū

بِمَا

with what

bimā

عَمِلُوا۟

they have done

ʿamilū

وَيَجْزِىَ

and recompense

wayajziya

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

أَحْسَنُوا۟

do good

aḥsanū

بِٱلْحُسْنَى

with the best

bil-ḥus'nā

٣١

A Dios pertenece cuanto hay en los cielos y en la Tierra, y Él castigará a quienes obren el mal y retribuirá con una hermosa recompensa a los que hagan el bien,

ٱلَّذِينَ

Those who

alladhīna

يَجْتَنِبُونَ

avoid

yajtanibūna

كَبَـٰٓئِرَ

great

kabāira

ٱلْإِثْمِ

sins

l-ith'mi

وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ

and the immoralities

wal-fawāḥisha

إِلَّا

except

illā

ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ

the small faults

l-lamama

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

رَبَّكَ

your Lord

rabbaka

وَٰسِعُ

(is) vast

wāsiʿu

ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ

(in) forgiveness

l-maghfirati

هُوَ

He

huwa

أَعْلَمُ

(is) most knowing about you

aʿlamu

بِكُمْ

(is) most knowing about you

bikum

إِذْ

when

idh

أَنشَأَكُم

He produced you

ansha-akum

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَإِذْ

and when

wa-idh

أَنتُمْ

you (were)

antum

أَجِنَّةٌۭ

fetuses

ajinnatun

فِى

in

fī

بُطُونِ

(the) wombs

buṭūni

أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ

(of) your mothers

ummahātikum

فَلَا

So (do) not

falā

تُزَكُّوٓا۟

ascribe purity

tuzakkū

أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ

(to) yourselves

anfusakum

هُوَ

He

huwa

أَعْلَمُ

knows best

aʿlamu

بِمَنِ

(he) who

bimani

ٱتَّقَىٰٓ

fears

ittaqā

٣٢

aquellos que evitan los pecados graves y las obscenidades, y no cometen más que faltas leves. Tu Señor es inmensamente indulgente. Él les conoce bien, ya que les creó de la tierra y luego hizo que fueran embriones en el vientre de sus madres. No se elogien a sí mismos, Él bien sabe quién es realmente piadoso.

أَفَرَءَيْتَ

Did you see

ٱلَّذِى

the one who

alladhī

تَوَلَّىٰ

turned away

tawallā

¿Has visto que quien rechaza [el Islam],

وَأَعْطَىٰ

And gave

wa-aʿṭā

قَلِيلًۭا

a little

qalīlan

وَأَكْدَىٰٓ

and withheld

wa-akdā

٣٤

da poco en caridad y es tacaño?

أَعِندَهُۥ

Is with him

aʿindahu

عِلْمُ

(the) knowledge

ʿil'mu

ٱلْغَيْبِ

(of) the unseen

l-ghaybi

فَهُوَ

so he

يَرَىٰٓ

sees

yarā

٣٥

¿Acaso tiene conocimiento de lo oculto y puede ver [lo que sucederá en el más allá]?

٣٦

¿No le han informado de lo que contienen las páginas reveladas a Moisés

وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ

And Ibrahim

wa-ib'rāhīma

ٱلَّذِى

who

alladhī

وَفَّىٰٓ

fulfilled

waffā

٣٧

y a Abraham, el fiel cumplidor?

أَلَّا

That not

allā

تَزِرُ

will bear

taziru

وَازِرَةٌۭ

a bearer of burdens

wāziratun

وِزْرَ

(the) burden

wiz'ra

أُخْرَىٰ

(of) another

ukh'rā

٣٨

Que nadie cargará con pecados ajenos,

وَأَن

And that

wa-an

لَّيْسَ

is not

laysa

لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ

for man

lil'insāni

إِلَّا

except

illā

مَا

what

mā

سَعَىٰ

he strives (for)

saʿā

٣٩

que el ser humano no obtendrá sino el fruto de sus esfuerzos,

وَأَنَّ

And that

wa-anna

سَعْيَهُۥ

his striving

saʿyahu

سَوْفَ

will soon

sawfa

يُرَىٰ

be seen

٤٠

que sus esfuerzos se verán,

ثُمَّ

Then

thumma

يُجْزَىٰهُ

he will be recompensed for it

yuj'zāhu

ٱلْجَزَآءَ

the recompense

l-jazāa

ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ

the fullest

l-awfā

que será retribuido con una recompensa total,

وَأَنَّ

And that

wa-anna

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

(is) the final goal

y que ante tu Señor se ha de comparecer finalmente.

وَأَنَّهُۥ

And that He

wa-annahu

هُوَ

[He]

أَضْحَكَ

makes (one) laugh

aḍḥaka

وَأَبْكَىٰ

and makes (one) weep

wa-abkā

Él es Quien hace reír y hace llorar,

And that He

wa-annahu

هُوَ

[He]

أَمَاتَ

causes death

وَأَحْيَا

and gives life

وَأَنَّهُۥ

And that He

wa-annahu

خَلَقَ

created

khalaqa

ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ

the pairs

l-zawjayni

ٱلذَّكَرَ

the male

l-dhakara

وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ

and the female

wal-unthā

٤٥

Él ha creado la pareja: el macho y la hembra,

hum

أَظْلَمَ

more unjust

aẓlama

وَأَطْغَىٰ

and more rebellious

wa-aṭghā

También lo hizo antes con el pueblo de Noé, pues ellos eran más injustos y transgresores.

وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ

And the overturned cities

wal-mu'tafikata

أَهْوَىٰ

He overthrew

سَـٰمِدُونَ

amuse (yourselves)

¿Permanecen distraídos?

So prostrate

fa-us'judū

لِلَّهِ

to Allah

lillahi

وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩

and worship (Him)

wa-uʿ'budū
