وَٱلْقَلَمِ

By the pen

wal-qalami

وَمَا

and what

wamā

يَسْطُرُونَ

they write

Nun. Juro por la pluma y por [los conocimientos que con ella] se escriben,

بِنِعْمَةِ

by (the) Grace

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

بِمَجْنُونٍۢ

a madman

And indeed

لَكَ

for you

لَأَجْرًا

surely (is) a reward

مَمْنُونٍۢ

y tendrás una recompensa ilimitada.

سَبِيلِهِۦ

His way

sabīlihi

وَهُوَ

and He

wahuwa

أَعْلَمُ

(is) most knowing

بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ

of the guided ones

bil-muh'tadīna

Tu Señor sabe mejor que nadie quiénes se extravían de Su camino, así

ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

the deniers

No obedezcas a los que desmienten el Mensaje.

They wish

you should compromise

فَيُدْهِنُونَ

so they would compromise

[Los idólatras] desearían que fueras condescendiente con ellos [en sus creencias idolátricas], y así ellos también serían condescendientes contigo.

ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

(of) the former (people)

l-awalīna

١٥

rechaza Mis versículos cuando se le recitan, diciendo: “Son fábulas de los ancestros”.

We will brand him

عَلَى

[Como castigo] le marcaré su nariz.

Indeed, We

بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ

have tried them

كَمَا

بَلَوْنَآ

أَصْحَـٰبَ

ٱلْجَنَّةِ

(of) the garden

l-janati

إِذْ

when

idh

أَقْسَمُوا۟

they swore

aqsamū

لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا

to pluck its fruit

layaṣrimunnahā

مُصْبِحِينَ

(in the) morning

muṣ'biḥīna

١٧

[A los que te desmienten] los he puesto a prueba [con la prosperidad], como probé a los dueños del huerto, cuando juraron recoger sus frutos por la mañana

And not

يَسْتَثْنُونَ

making exception

y no dejar nada a los pobres.

So there came

طَآئِفٌۭ

a visitation

مِّن

نَآئِمُونَ

were asleep

Pero un castigo enviado por tu Señor azotó el huerto mientras dormían,

So it became

كَٱلصَّرِيمِ

as if reaped

dejándolo devastado.

فَتَنَادَوْا۟

And they called one another

مُصْبِحِينَ

Por la mañana, se despertaron unos a otros.

Go early

عَلَىٰ

to

حَرْثِكُمْ

your crop

كُنتُمْ

pluck (the) fruit

ṣārimīna

٢٢

Dijeron: “Vayamos temprano a nuestro campo si queremos recoger la cosecha”.

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟

So they went

وَهُمْ

while they

يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ

lowered (their) voices

Y se pusieron en camino diciéndose unos a otros en voz baja:

“Hoy no dejaremos entrar a ningún pobre”.

وَغَدَوْا۟

And they went early

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

حَرْدٍۢ

determination

ḥardin

قَـٰدِرِينَ

able

٢٥

Madrugaron convencidos de que podrían privar a los pobres de su derecho.

فَلَمَّا

But when

falammā

رَأَوْهَا

they saw it

ra-awhā

قَالُوٓا۟

they said

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

لَضَآلُّونَ

(are) surely lost

laḍāllūna

Pero cuando vieron [el huerto devastado] dijeron: “Seguramente nos hemos equivocado de camino”.

بَلْ

Nay

bal

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

مَحْرُومُونَ

(are) deprived

maḥrūmūna

٢٧

[Pero al darse cuenta de que sí era su huerto, dijeron:] “Estamos arruinados”.

قَالَ

Said

أَوْسَطُهُمْ

(the) most moderate of them

awsaṭuhum

أَلَمْ

Did not

alam

أَقُل

I tell

aqul

لَّكُمْ

you

lakum

لَوْلَا

'Why not

lawlā

تُسَبِّحُونَ

you glorify (Allah)?'

tusabbiḥūna

٢٨

Entonces, el más sensato de ellos dijo: “¿No os había dicho que recordaran?”

They said

سُبْحَـٰنَ

Glory be

sub'ḥāna

رَبِّنَآ

(to) our Lord

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

كُنَّا

[we] were

ظَـٰلِمِينَ

wrongdoers

ẓālimīna

٢٩

Dijeron: “Glorificado sea nuestro Señor, fuimos injustos”.

فَأَقْبَلَ

Then approached

fa-aqbala

بَعْضُهُمْ

some of them

baʿḍuhum

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

بَعْضٍۢ

others

baʿḍin

يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ

blaming each other

yatalāwamūna

٣٠

Y comenzaron a recriminarse unos a otros.

قَالُوا۟

They said

qālū

يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ

O woe to us

yāwaylanā

إِنَّا

Indeed, we

innā

كُنَّا

[we] were

kunnā

طَـٰغِينَ

transgressors

ṭāghīna

٣١

Dijeron: “¡Ay de nosotros! Nos comportamos con mucha arrogancia.

عَسَىٰ

Perhaps

ʿasā

رَبُّنَآ

our Lord

rabbunā

أَن

[that]

an

يُبْدِلَنَا

will substitute for us

yub'dilanā

خَيْرًۭا

a better

khayran

مِّنْهَآ

than it

min'hā

إِنَّآ

Indeed, we

innā

إِلَىٰ

to

ilā

رَبِّنَا

our Lord

rabbinā

رَٰغِبُونَ

turn devoutly

rāghibūna

٣٢

Puede que nuestro Señor nos conceda algo mejor, regresemos a nuestro Señor con esperanza”.

كَذَٰلِكَ

Such

kadhālika

ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ

(is) the punishment

l-ʿadhābu

وَلَعَذَابُ

And surely the punishment

walaʿadhābu

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

(of) the Hereafter

l-ākhirati

أَكْبَرُ ۚ

(is) greater

akbaru

لَوْ

if

law

كَانُوا۟

they

kānū

يَعْلَمُونَ

know

yaʿlamūna

٣٣

Ese fue su castigo, pero el castigo de la otra vida será aún mayor. ¡Si lo supieran!

Indeed

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

for the righteous

lil'muttaqīna

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

رَبِّهِمْ

their Lord

rabbihim

جَنَّـٰتِ

(are) Gardens

jannāti

ٱلنَّعِيمِ

(of) Delight

l-naʿīmi

٣٤

El Señor agraciará a los piadosos con los Jardines de las Delicias.

أَفَنَجْعَلُ

Then will We treat

afanajʿalu

ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

the Muslims

l-mus'limīna

كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

like the criminals

kal-muj'rimīna

¿Acaso iba a tratar por igual a quienes se someten a Dios y a los pecadores?

¿Acaso tenéis un libro [revelado] al que consultáis,

عَلَيْنَا

from us

ʿalaynā

بَـٰلِغَةٌ

reaching

يَوْمِ

(the) Day

yawmi

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

إِنَّ

indeed

inna

لَكُمْ

for you

lakum

لَمَا

(is) what

lamā

تَحْكُمُونَ

you judge

taḥkumūna

٣٩

¿O creéis tener Conmigo un pacto hasta el Día de la Resurrección que Me obligue a concederos lo que queráis?

Ask them

أَيُّهُم

which of them

ayyuhum

بِذَٰلِكَ

زَعِيمٌ

(is) responsible

they are

صَـٰدِقِينَ

truthful

ṣādiqīna

٤١

¿Acaso tenéis ídolos [que os lo garantizan]? ¡Que traigan a sus ídolos, si es verdad lo que dicen!

(The) Day

will be uncovered

وَيُدْعَوْنَ

and they will be called

ٱلسُّجُودِ

prostrate

l-sujūdi

فَلَا

but not

يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

they will be able

yastaṭīʿūna

٤٢

El día que se descubra la pierna [divina, manifestándose la gravedad de la situación] y sean invitados a prosternarse, pero no podrán hacerlo,

Humbled

khāshiʿatan

أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ

their eyes

abṣāruhum

تَرْهَقُهُمْ

will cover them

tarhaquhum

ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ

وَقَدْ

And indeed

waqad

كَانُوا۟

they were

kānū

يُدْعَوْنَ

called

yud'ʿawna

إِلَى

to

ilā

ٱلسُّجُودِ

prostrate

l-sujūdi

وَهُمْ

while they

wahum

سَـٰلِمُونَ

(were) sound

sālimūna

٤٣

tendrán la mirada abatida, porque fueron invitados a prosternarse cuando podían [pero no lo hicieron].

فَذَرْنِى

So leave Me

fadharnī

وَمَن

and whoever

waman

يُكَذِّبُ

denies

yukadhibu

بِهَـٰذَا

this

bihādhā

ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ

Statement

سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم

We will progressively lead them

sanastadrijuhum

مِّنْ

from

حَيْثُ

where

ḥaythu

لَا

not

lā

يَعْلَمُونَ

they know

yaʿlamūna

٤٤

Yo me encargaré de quienes desmienten el Mensaje. Les castigaré sin prisa cuando menos lo esperen.

And I will give respite

لَهُمْ ۚ

to them

إِنَّ

Indeed

كَيْدِى

My plan

مَتِينٌ

(is) firm

(are) burdened

٤٦

¿Acaso les reclamas una retribución [a cambio de transmitirles el Mensaje], que se sienten agobiados?

(is) with them

ʿindahumu

ٱلْغَيْبُ

the unseen

فَهُمْ

so they

يَكْتُبُونَ

¿Acaso conocen lo oculto [de la predestinación] y lo escriben?

فَٱصْبِرْ

So be patient

لِحُكْمِ

for (the) decision

رَبِّكَ

وَلَا

kaṣāḥibi

ٱلْحُوتِ

(of) the fish

إِذْ

نَادَىٰ

he called out

وَهُوَ

مَكْظُومٌۭ

(was) distressed

makẓūmun

٤٨

Ten paciencia ante el designio de tu Señor y no seas como el que fue tragado por la ballena, que Me imploró angustiado.

رَّبِّهِۦ

his Lord

rabbihi

لَنُبِذَ

surely he would have been thrown

lanubidha

بِٱلْعَرَآءِ

onto (the) naked shore

bil-ʿarāi

وَهُوَ

while he

wahuwa

مَذْمُومٌۭ

(was) blamed

madhmūmun

٤٩

Si no hubiera sido por la gracia de su Señor, habría sido arrojado a la playa desierta cargando su culpa.

فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ

But chose him

fa-ij'tabāhu

رَبُّهُۥ

his Lord

rabbuhu

فَجَعَلَهُۥ

and made him

fajaʿalahu

مِنَ

of

mina

ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

the righteous

l-ṣāliḥīna

٥٠

Pero su Señor lo había escogido para que fuera uno de los piadosos.

وَإِن

And indeed

wa-in

يَكَادُ

would almost

yakādu

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who

alladhīna

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieve

kafarū

لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ

surely make you slip

layuz'liqūnaka

بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ

with their look

bi-abṣārihim

لَمَّا

when

lammā

سَمِعُوا۟

they hear

samiʿū

ٱلذِّكْرَ

the Message

l-dhik'ra

وَيَقُولُونَ

and they say

wayaqūlūna

إِنَّهُۥ

Indeed, he

innahu

لَمَجْنُونٌۭ

(is) surely mad

lamajnūnun

[Oh, Muhámmad:] Poco faltó para que los que rechazaron el Mensaje te derribaran con sus miradas [de odio] cuando oyeron la recitación del Corán. Y aunque digan: “Es un loco”,

And not

wamā

هُوَ

it (is)

huwa

إِلَّا

but

illā

ذِكْرٌۭ

dhik'run

لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

to the worlds

lil'ʿālamīna
