Al-Muddaththir

﷽
المدثر
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you yāayyuhā who covers himself l-mudathiru
¡Oh, tú [Muhámmad] que te envuelves en un manto!
وَرَبَّكَ And your Lord warabbaka magnify fakabbir
Proclama la grandeza de tu Señor,
وَثِيَابَكَ And your clothing wathiyābaka purify faṭahhir
purifica tus vestimentas,
وَلَا And (do) not walā confer favor tamnun (to) acquire more tastakthiru
y no des esperando recibir más a cambio.
وَلِرَبِّكَ And for your Lord walirabbika be patient fa-iṣ'bir
Sé paciente [con las dificultades que enfrentarás al divulgar el Mensaje] de tu Señor.
فَإِذَا Then when fa-idhā is blown nuqira in fī the trumpet l-nāqūri
[Pero ten en cuenta que] cuando se sople la trompeta [y comience el Día del Juicio],
فَذَٰلِكَ That fadhālika Day yawma-idhin (will be) a Day yawmun difficult ʿasīrun
ese será un día difícil.
عَلَى For ʿalā the disbelievers l-kāfirīna not ghayru easy yasīrin
Nada fácil para los que hoy desmienten la verdad.
ذَرْنِى Leave Me dharnī and whom waman I created khalaqtu alone waḥīdan
[¡Oh, Muhámmad!] Deja que Yo me encargaré de aquel que he creado, y vino al mundo solo,
وَجَعَلْتُ And I granted wajaʿaltu to him lahu wealth mālan extensive mamdūdan
a quien concedí abundantes riquezas
وَمَهَّدتُّ And I spread wamahhadttu for him lahu ease tamhīdan
Y le facilité medios con holgura,
ثُمَّ Then thumma he desires yaṭmaʿu that an I (should) add more azīda
pero aun así anhela más.
كَلَّآ ۖ By no means kallā Indeed, he innahu has been kāna to Our Verses liāyātinā stubborn ʿanīdan
¡No! Porque rechazó Mis signos.
سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ Soon I will cover Him sa-ur'hiquhu (with) a laborious punishment ṣaʿūdan
Haré que sus dificultades vayan en aumento.
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he innahu thought fakkara and plotted waqaddara
Porque él pensó y decidió [a sabiendas, desmentir el Mensaje].
فَقُتِلَ So may he be destroyed faqutila how kayfa he plotted qaddara
Fue maldecido por la decisión que tomó.
ثُمَّ Then thumma may he be destroyed qutila how kayfa he plotted qaddara
¡Sí!, fue maldecido por la decisión que tomó.
ثُمَّ Then thumma he frowned ʿabasa and scowled wabasara
pero [al no poder encontrar ningún argumento] frunció el ceño y ofuscó el semblante.
ثُمَّ Then thumma he turned back adbara and was proud wa-is'takbara
Luego le dio la espalda [al Mensaje] y se comportó con soberbia,
فَقَالَ Then he said faqāla Not in (is) this hādhā but illā magic siḥ'run imitated yu'tharu
diciendo: “Esto solo es hechicería que impresiona.
إِنْ Not in (is) this hādhā but illā (the) word qawlu (of) a human being l-bashari
Es la palabra de un mortal”.
سَأُصْلِيهِ Soon I will drive him sa-uṣ'līhi (into) Hell saqara
En consecuencia, le llevaré al fuego del Infierno.
وَمَآ And what wamā can make you know adrāka what mā (is) Hell saqaru
¿Y qué te hará comprender lo que es el fuego del Infierno?
لَا Not lā it lets remain tub'qī and not walā it leaves tadharu
[Es un fuego que] no deja nada sin quemar ni cesa jamás.
عَلَيْهَا Over it ʿalayhā (are) nine tis'ʿata teen ʿashara
Hay diecinueve [ángeles] que lo custodian.
وَمَا And not wamā We have made jaʿalnā keepers aṣḥāba (of) the Fire l-nāri except illā Angels malāikatan And not wamā We have made jaʿalnā their number ʿiddatahum except illā (as) a trial fit'natan for those who lilladhīna disbelieve kafarū that may be certain liyastayqina those who alladhīna were given ūtū the Scripture l-kitāba and may increase wayazdāda those who alladhīna believe āmanū (in) faith īmānan and not walā may doubt yartāba those who alladhīna were given ūtū the Scripture l-kitāba and the believers wal-mu'minūna and that may say waliyaqūla those alladhīna in fī their hearts qulūbihim (is) a disease maraḍun and the disbelievers wal-kāfirūna What mādhā (does) intend arāda Allah l-lahu by this bihādhā example mathalan Thus kadhālika does let go astray yuḍillu Allah l-lahu whom man He wills yashāu and guides wayahdī whom man He wills yashāu And none wamā knows yaʿlamu (the) hosts junūda (of) your Lord rabbika except illā Him huwa And not wamā it hiya (is) but illā a reminder dhik'rā to (the) human beings lil'bashari
Decreté que los guardianes del Infierno fueran ángeles, y dispuse ese número para probar a los que rechazan la verdad, también para que la Gente del Libro se convenzan y crean, y para que los creyentes fortifiquen su fe y no les queden dudas a ellos ni a la Gente del Libro. También para que aquellos cuyos corazones están enfermos [de duda e hipocresía] y los que niegan la fe se pregunten: “¿Qué es lo que quiere demostrar Dios con este ejemplo?” Así es como Dios extravía a quien quiere [extraviarse] y guía a quien quiere [guiarse]. Solo Él conoce a todos los que sirven Su causa. Todo esto es motivo de reflexión para la humanidad.
كَلَّا Nay kallā By the moon wal-qamari
[No es como pretenden los que rechazan la revelación, lo] juro por la Luna,
وَٱلَّيْلِ And the night wa-al-layli when idh it departs adbara
por la noche cuando desaparece,
وَٱلصُّبْحِ And the morning wal-ṣub'ḥi when idhā it brightens asfara
por la mañana cuando resplandece,
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it innahā (is) surely one la-iḥ'dā (of) the greatest l-kubari
que [el Infierno] es uno de los mayores [avisos],
نَذِيرًۭا A warning nadhīran to (the) human being lil'bashari
una advertencia para los seres humanos.
لِمَن To whoever liman wills shāa among you minkum to an proceed yataqaddama or aw stay behind yata-akhara
Para que cada uno elija [libremente] obrar bien u obrar mal.
كُلُّ Every kullu soul nafsin for what bimā it has earned kasabat (is) pledged rahīnatun
Toda alma será rehén de lo que haya hecho,
إِلَّآ Except illā (the) companions aṣḥāba (of) the right l-yamīni
salvo los [bienaventurados] de la derecha.
فِى In fī Gardens jannātin asking each other yatasāalūna
[Ellos estarán] en jardines y se preguntarán unos a otros
عَنِ About ʿani the criminals l-muj'rimīna
acerca de [la situación] de los criminales.
مَا What mā led you salakakum into fī Hell saqara
Y les preguntarán: “¿Qué fue lo que os llevó al fuego del Infierno?”
قَالُوا۟ They will say qālū Not lam we were naku of mina those who prayed l-muṣalīna
Ellos responderán: “Fue que no cumplíamos con la oración,
وَلَمْ And not walam we used to naku feed nuṭ'ʿimu the poor l-mis'kīna
no dábamos de comer al pobre,
وَكُنَّا And we used to wakunnā indulge in vain talk nakhūḍu with maʿa the vain talkers l-khāiḍīna
nos entreteníamos difamando [la revelación] junto a quienes retuercen la lógica para negar la verdad,
وَكُنَّا And we used to wakunnā deny nukadhibu (the) Day biyawmi (of) the Judgment l-dīni
y desmentíamos la existencia del Día del Juicio
حَتَّىٰٓ Until ḥattā came to us atānā the certainty l-yaqīnu
hasta que nos alcanzó la muerte [y con ella la certeza]”.
فَمَا Then not famā will benefit them tanfaʿuhum intercession shafāʿatu (of) the intercessors l-shāfiʿīna
A estos no les beneficiará intercesión alguna.
فَمَا Then what famā (is) for them lahum (that) from ʿani the Reminder l-tadhkirati they (are) turning away muʿ'riḍīna
¿Qué les pasa que se apartan de la amonestación [del Corán]
كَأَنَّهُمْ As if they (were) ka-annahum donkeys ḥumurun frightened mus'tanfiratun
como si fueran cebras espantadas
بَلْ Nay bal Desires yurīdu every kullu person im'ri-in of them min'hum that an he may be given yu'tā pages ṣuḥufan spread out munasharatan
Ellos quisieran que descendieran [del cielo] páginas con un mensaje especial [que les confirmase que Muhámmad es un Mensajero de Dios].
كَلَّا ۖ Nay kallā But bal not lā they fear yakhāfūna the Hereafter l-ākhirata
Pero no se lo concederemos, porque no tienen temor devocional a la vida del más allá.
كَلَّآ Nay kallā Indeed, it innahu (is) a Reminder tadhkiratun
[El Corán] es una exhortación
فَمَن So whoever faman wills shāa (may) pay heed to it dhakarahu
para que reflexione quien quiera.
وَمَا And not wamā will pay heed yadhkurūna except illā that an wills yashāa Allah l-lahu He huwa (is) worthy ahlu to be feared l-taqwā and worthy wa-ahlu to forgive l-maghfirati
Pero solo lo harán aquellos para quienes Dios quiera la guía. Solo Él es digno de ser adorado, y solo Él es la fuente del perdón.
