العصر
إِنَّ Indeed inna mankind l-insāna (is) surely, in lafī loss khus'rin
que los seres humanos están en la perdición,
إِلَّا Except illā those who alladhīna believe āmanū and do waʿamilū righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti and enjoin (each other) watawāṣaw to the truth bil-ḥaqi and enjoin (each other) watawāṣaw to [the] patience bil-ṣabri
excepto aquellos que crean, obren rectamente, y se aconsejen mutuamente con la verdad y con la paciencia [ante las adversidades].

الهمزة
وَيْلٌۭ Woe waylun to every likulli slanderer humazatin backbiter lumazatin
¡Ay del castigo que les aguarda al difamador y al calumniador,
ٱلَّذِى The one who alladhī collects jamaʿa wealth mālan and counts it waʿaddadahu
al que acumula bienes materiales y los cuenta una y otra vez,
يَحْسَبُ Thinking yaḥsabu that anna his wealth mālahu will make him immortal akhladahu
creyendo que su riqueza lo hará vivir eternamente!
كَلَّا ۖ Nay kallā Surely he will be thrown layunbadhanna in fī the Crusher l-ḥuṭamati
Por el contrario, serán arrojados en un fuego demoledor.
وَمَآ And what wamā will make you know adrāka what mā the Crusher (is) l-ḥuṭamatu
¿Y qué te hará comprender lo que es un fuego demoledor?
نَارُ A Fire nāru Allah l-lahi kindled l-mūqadatu
Es un fuego encendido por Dios
ٱلَّتِى Which allatī mounts up taṭṭaliʿu to ʿalā the hearts l-afidati
cuyo dolor alcanza los corazones.
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it innahā (will be) upon them ʿalayhim closed over mu'ṣadatun
El Infierno se cerrará en torno a ellos
فِى In fī columns ʿamadin extended mumaddadatin
con columnas inmensas.

El Elefante

الفيل
أَلَمْ Have not alam you seen tara how kayfa dealt faʿala your Lord rabbuka with (the) Companions bi-aṣḥābi (of the) Elephant l-fīli
¿No has observado lo que hizo tu Señor con el ejército del elefante?
أَلَمْ Did not alam He make yajʿal their plan kaydahum go fī astray taḍlīlin
¿No has visto cómo desbarató sus planes [de destruir la Ka‘bah]?
وَأَرْسَلَ And He sent wa-arsala against them ʿalayhim birds ṭayran (in) flocks abābīla
Y envió sobre ellos bandadas de aves
تَرْمِيهِم Striking them tarmīhim with stones biḥijāratin of min baked clay sijjīlin
que les arrojaron piedras de arcilla dura,
فَجَعَلَهُمْ Then He made them fajaʿalahum like straw kaʿaṣfin eaten up makūlin
y los dejó como heno carcomido.
