(A) mention dhik'ru (of the) Mercy raḥmati (of) your Lord rabbika (to) His servant ʿabdahu Zakariya zakariyyā
When idh he called nādā (to) his Lord rabbahu a call nidāan secret khafiyyan
cuando invocó a su Señor en secreto.
He said qāla My Lord rabbi Indeed, [I] innī (have) weakened wahana my bones l-ʿaẓmu my bones minnī and flared wa-ish'taʿala (my) head l-rasu (with) white shayban and not walam I have been akun in (my) supplication (to) You biduʿāika my Lord rabbi unblessed shaqiyyan
And indeed, I wa-innī [I] fear khif'tu the successors l-mawāliya after me min after me warāī and is wakānati my wife im'ra-atī barren ʿāqiran So give fahab [to] me lī from min Yourself ladunka an heir waliyyan
Who will inherit me yarithunī and inherit wayarithu from min (the) family āli (of) Yaqub yaʿqūba And make him wa-ij'ʿalhu my Lord rabbi pleasing raḍiyyan
O Zakariya yāzakariyyā Indeed, We innā [We] give you glad tidings nubashiruka of a boy bighulāmin his name us'muhu (will be) Yahya yaḥyā not lam We (have) assigned najʿal [for] it lahu before min before qablu (this) name samiyyan
He said qāla My Lord rabbi How annā can yakūnu I have lī a boy ghulāmun while is wakānati my wife im'ra-atī barren ʿāqiran and indeed waqad I have reached balaghtu of mina the old age l-kibari extreme ʿitiyyan
Dijo: “¡Señor mío! ¿Cómo he de tener un hijo si mi mujer es estéril y yo he llegado ya a la vejez extrema?”
He said qāla Thus kadhālika said qāla your Lord rabbuka 'It huwa (is) easy for Me ʿalayya (is) easy for Me hayyinun and certainly waqad I (have) created you khalaqtuka before min before qablu while not walam you were taku anything.' shayan
He said qāla My Lord rabbi Make ij'ʿal for me lī a sign āyatan He said qāla Your sign āyatuka (is) that not allā you will speak tukallima (to) the people l-nāsa (for) three thalātha nights layālin sound sawiyyan
Then he came out fakharaja to ʿalā his people qawmihi from mina the prayer chamber l-miḥ'rābi and he signaled fa-awḥā to them ilayhim to an glorify (Allah) sabbiḥū (in) the morning buk'ratan and (in) the evening waʿashiyyan
