that I am

بَرِىٓءٌۭ

innocent

مِّمَّا

of what

تُشْرِكُونَ

you associate

عَلَىٰ

ʿalā

صِرَٰطٍۢ

a path

ṣirāṭin

مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

straight

mus'taqīmin

Yo me encomiendo a Dios, que es mi Señor y el vuestro. Sabed que no hay criatura que se escape a Su voluntad. Mi Señor está en el camino recto [y juzga con justicia].

I have conveyed to you

إِلَيْكُمْ ۚ

to you

ilaykum

وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ

And my Lord will give succession

رَبِّى

And my Lord will give succession

rabbī

قَوْمًا

(to) a people

qawman

غَيْرَكُمْ

other than you

ghayrakum

وَلَا

and not

walā

تَضُرُّونَهُۥ

you will harm Him

taḍurrūnahu

شَيْـًٔا ۚ

(in) anything

shayan

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

عَلَىٰ

(is) on

ʿalā

كُلِّ

all

kulli

شَىْءٍ

things

shayin

حَفِيظٌۭ

a Guardian

ḥafīẓun

٥٧

Pero si me rechazáis, yo habré cumplido con transmitiros aquello con lo que fui enviado, y mi Señor os remplazará por otro pueblo diferente [que será creyente]. Sabed que no Le perjudicáis en nada [si no creéis en Él]; mi Señor es el Protector de todas las cosas”.

وَلَمَّا

And when

walammā

جَآءَ

came

أَمْرُنَا

Our command

نَجَّيْنَا

We saved

najjaynā

هُودًۭا

Hud

hūdan

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and those who

wa-alladhīna

ءَامَنُوا۟

believed

āmanū

مَعَهُۥ

with him

maʿahu

بِرَحْمَةٍۢ

by a Mercy

biraḥmatin

مِّنَّا

from Us

minnā

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُم

and We saved them

wanajjaynāhum

مِّنْ

from

min

عَذَابٍ

a punishment

ʿadhābin

غَلِيظٍۢ

severe

ghalīẓin

٥٨

Cuando llegó Mi designio [de destruirles], salvé por misericordia a Hud y a quienes creyeron con él, librándoles de un castigo terrible.

وَتِلْكَ

And this

watil'ka

عَادٌۭ ۖ

(was) Aad

ʿādun

جَحَدُوا۟

they rejected

jaḥadū

بِـَٔايَـٰتِ

(the) Signs

biāyāti

رَبِّهِمْ

(of) their Lord

rabbihim

وَعَصَوْا۟

and disobeyed

waʿaṣaw

رُسُلَهُۥ

His Messengers

rusulahu

وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟

and followed

wa-ittabaʿū

أَمْرَ

(the) command

amra

كُلِّ

(of) every

kulli

جَبَّارٍ

tyrant

jabbārin

عَنِيدٍۢ

obstinate

ʿanīdin

٥٩

Así fue el pueblo de ‘Ad, negaron los signos de su Señor y desobedecieron a Sus Mensajeros, y siguieron a aquellos que se oponían a la verdad con arrogancia y prepotencia.

وَأُتْبِعُوا۟

And they were followed

wa-ut'biʿū

ٱلدُّنْيَا

لَعْنَةًۭ

وَيَوْمَ

and (on the) Day

wayawma

ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ

(of) the Resurrection

l-qiyāmati

أَلَآ

No doubt

alā

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

عَادًۭا

Aad

ʿādan

كَفَرُوا۟

disbelieved

kafarū

رَبَّهُمْ ۗ

their Lord

rabbahum

أَلَا

So

alā

بُعْدًۭا

away

buʿ'dan

لِّعَادٍۢ

with Aad

liʿādin

قَوْمِ

(the) people

qawmi

هُودٍۢ

(of) Hud

hūdin

٦٠

Recibieron la maldición en este mundo y en el Día del Juicio. Los habitantes de ‘Ad negaron a su Señor, y por ello el pueblo de Hud quedó fuera de la misericordia.

And to

wa-ilā

ثَمُودَ

Thamud

أَخَاهُمْ

(We sent) their brother

صَـٰلِحًۭا ۚ

Salih

He said

يَـٰقَوْمِ

O my people

yāqawmi

ٱعْبُدُوا۟

Worship

uʿ'budū

ٱللَّهَ

Allah

l-laha

مَا

not

mā

لَكُم

you have

lakum

مِّنْ

any

min

إِلَـٰهٍ

god

ilāhin

غَيْرُهُۥ ۖ

other than Him

ghayruhu

هُوَ

He

huwa

أَنشَأَكُم

produced you

ansha-akum

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلْأَرْضِ

the earth

l-arḍi

وَٱسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ

and settled you

wa-is'taʿmarakum

فِيهَا

in it

fīhā

فَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُ

So ask forgiveness of Him

fa-is'taghfirūhu

ثُمَّ

then

thumma

تُوبُوٓا۟

turn in repentance

tūbū

إِلَيْهِ ۚ

to Him

ilayhi

إِنَّ

Indeed

inna

رَبِّى

my Lord

rabbī

قَرِيبٌۭ

(is) near

qarībun

مُّجِيبٌۭ

All-Responsive

mujībun

٦١

Y al pueblo de Zamud le envié [como Profeta] a su hermano Sálih, quien les dijo: “¡Oh, pueblo mío! Adorad a Dios, pues no existe otra divinidad salvo Él. Él os creó de la tierra y os hizo vivir en ella. Implorad Su perdón y arrepentíos, porque mi Señor está próximo [cuando Le invocan] y responde vuestras súplicas”.

O Salih

Verily

كُنتَ

فِينَا

among us

مَرْجُوًّۭا

the one in whom hope was placed

marjuwwan

قَبْلَ

before

qabla

هَـٰذَآ ۖ

this

hādhā

أَتَنْهَىٰنَآ

Do you forbid us

atanhānā

أَن

that

an

نَّعْبُدَ

we worship

naʿbuda

مَا

what

mā

يَعْبُدُ

our forefathers worshipped

yaʿbudu

ءَابَآؤُنَا

our forefathers worshipped

ābāunā

وَإِنَّنَا

And indeed we

wa-innanā

لَفِى

surely (are) in

lafī

شَكٍّۢ

doubt

shakkin

مِّمَّا

about what

mimmā

تَدْعُونَآ

you call us

tadʿūnā

إِلَيْهِ

to it

ilayhi

مُرِيبٍۢ

suspicious

murībin

٦٢

Dijeron: “¡Oh, Sálih! Teníamos esperanzas en ti [que fueras nuestro líder] antes de esto. ¿Acaso nos prohíbes que adoremos lo que adoraron nuestros padres? Eso a lo que nos invitas nos resulta muy sospechoso”.
