وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā it is said qīla to them lahumu Follow ittabiʿū what mā has revealed anzala Allah l-lahu they said qālū Nay bal we follow nattabiʿu what mā we found alfaynā [on it] ʿalayhi our forefathers (following) ābāanā Even though awalaw [were] kāna their forefathers ābāuhum (did) not lā understand yaʿqilūna anything shayan and not walā were they guided yahtadūna
Y cuando se les dice: “Seguid lo que Dios ha revelado”, argumentan: “No, seguimos la tradición de nuestros padres”. ¿Acaso imitáis a vuestros padres a pesar de que ellos no seguían una lógica ni una revelación?
