أَفْتَرَىٰ Has he invented aftarā about ʿalā Allah l-lahi a lie kadhiban or am in him bihi (is) madness jinnatun Nay bali those who alladhīna (do) not lā believe yu'minūna in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati (will be) in fī the punishment l-ʿadhābi and error wal-ḍalāli far l-baʿīdi
inventa mentiras y se las atribuye a Dios, o está loco?” Pero los que no creen en la otra vida sufrirán el castigo porque están sumidos en un extravío profundo.
أَفَلَمْ Then, do not afalam they see yaraw towards ilā what mā (is) before them bayna (is) before them aydīhim and what wamā (is) behind them khalfahum of mina the heaven l-samāi and the earth wal-arḍi If in We will nasha We (could) cause to swallow them nakhsif We (could) cause to swallow them bihimu the earth l-arḍa or aw cause to fall nus'qiṭ upon them ʿalayhim fragments kisafan from mina the sky l-samāi Indeed inna in fī that dhālika surely, is a Sign laāyatan for every likulli slave ʿabdin who turns (to Allah) munībin
¿Es que no observan los cielos y la tierra que les rodea? Si quisiera, haría que se los tragara la tierra, o haría que cayera sobre ellos un castigo del cielo. En eso hay un signo para todo siervo arrepentido.
۞ وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad We gave ātaynā Dawood dāwūda from Us minnā Bounty faḍlan O mountains yājibālu Repeat praises awwibī with him maʿahu and the birds wal-ṭayra And We made pliable wa-alannā for him lahu [the] iron l-ḥadīda
Concedí a David Mi favor [cuando dije:] “¡Oh, montañas y pájaros! Glorificad con él [a Dios]”, y le facilité moldear el hierro.
أَنِ That ani make iʿ'mal full coats of mail sābighātin and measure precisely waqaddir [of] fī the links (of armor) l-sardi and work wa-iʿ'malū righteousness ṣāliḥan Indeed, I Am innī of what bimā you do taʿmalūna All-Seer baṣīrun
[Dijo Dios:] “Haz cotas de malla cuyas argollas tengan una justa medida y obrad rectamente [tú y tus seguidores]; Yo observo lo que hacéis”.
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ And to Sulaiman walisulaymāna the wind l-rīḥa its morning course ghuduwwuhā (was) a month shahrun and its afternoon course warawāḥuhā (was) a month shahrun and We caused to flow wa-asalnā for him lahu a spring ʿayna (of) molten copper l-qiṭ'ri And [of] wamina the jinn l-jini who man worked yaʿmalu before him bayna before him yadayhi by the permission bi-idh'ni (of) his Lord rabbihi And whoever waman deviated yazigh among them min'hum from ʿan Our Command amrinā We will make him taste nudhiq'hu of min (the) punishment ʿadhābi (of) the Blaze l-saʿīri
Y a Salomón le sometí el viento para que recorriera la distancia que recorrería en un mes en las mañanas como en las tardes. E hice manar para él una fuente de cobre fundido. [También le sometí] los yinn que trabajaban para él por orden de su Señor. A quien de ellos se rebelara a Mi voluntad [y desobedeciera a Salomón], le hacía sufrir el castigo del Infierno.
يَعْمَلُونَ They worked yaʿmalūna for him lahu what mā he willed yashāu of min elevated chambers maḥārība and statues watamāthīla and bowls wajifānin like reservoirs kal-jawābi and cooking-pots waqudūrin fixed rāsiyātin Work iʿ'malū O family āla (of) Dawood dāwūda (in) gratitude shuk'ran But few waqalīlun of min My slaves ʿibādiya (are) grateful l-shakūru
Hacían para él todo lo que él deseara: templos elevados, estatuas, cántaros grandes como estanques y calderas enormes. [Les dije:] “Trabajad con agradecimiento [a Dios por los favores concedidos] ¡oh, familia de David!, pero sabed que pocos de Mis siervos son agradecidos”.
فَلَمَّا Then when falammā We decreed qaḍaynā for him ʿalayhi the death l-mawta not mā indicated to them dallahum [on] ʿalā his death mawtihi except illā a creature dābbatu (of) the earth l-arḍi eating takulu his staff minsa-atahu But when falammā he fell down kharra became clear tabayyanati (to) the jinn l-jinu that an if law they had kānū known yaʿlamūna the unseen l-ghayba not mā they (would have) remained labithū in fī the punishment l-ʿadhābi humiliating l-muhīni
Cuando decreté para él que muriera, no les advirtió de su muerte sino un insecto de la tierra que carcomió su bastón, y cuando [Salomón] se cayó, se hizo evidente [para la gente] que si los yinn hubieran tenido conocimiento de lo oculto, no habrían permanecido en el castigo humillante [de seguir trabajando].
