And when

لِأَبِيهِ

to his father

li-abīhi

وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ

and his people

waqawmihi

إِنَّنِى

Indeed, I (am)

innanī

بَرَآءٌۭ

disassociated

barāon

مِّمَّا

from what

mimmā

تَعْبُدُونَ

you worship

taʿbudūna

٢٦

[Recuerda, ¡Oh, Muhámmad!,] cuando Abraham le dijo a su padre y a su pueblo: “Yo soy inocente de lo que adoran.

إِلَّا

Except

illā

ٱلَّذِى

the One Who

alladhī

فَطَرَنِى

created me

faṭaranī

فَإِنَّهُۥ

and indeed, He

fa-innahu

سَيَهْدِينِ

will guide me

sayahdīni

Yo solo adoro a Quien me ha creado. Él me guiará”.

وَجَعَلَهَا

And he made it

wajaʿalahā

كَلِمَةًۢ

a word

kalimatan

بَاقِيَةًۭ

lasting

bāqiyatan

فِى

among

fī

عَقِبِهِۦ

his descendents

ʿaqibihi

لَعَلَّهُمْ

so that they may

laʿallahum

يَرْجِعُونَ

return

yarjiʿūna

٢٨

[Dios] hizo que esta [fe monoteísta] perdurara en su descendencia para que siempre pudiera retornar.

Nay

bal

مَتَّعْتُ

I gave enjoyment

mattaʿtu

هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ

(to) these

hāulāi

وَءَابَآءَهُمْ

and their forefathers

waābāahum

حَتَّىٰ

until

ḥattā

جَآءَهُمُ

came to them

jāahumu

ٱلْحَقُّ

the truth

l-ḥaqu

وَرَسُولٌۭ

and a Messenger

warasūlun

مُّبِينٌۭ

clear

mubīnun

٢٩

[A quienes se desviaron] los dejé disfrutar transitoriamente, y también a sus padres, hasta que les llegó la Verdad transmitida por un Mensajero elocuente,

وَلَمَّا

And when

walammā

جَآءَهُمُ

came to them

jāahumu

ٱلْحَقُّ

the truth

l-ḥaqu

قَالُوا۟

they said

qālū

هَـٰذَا

This

hādhā

سِحْرٌۭ

(is) magic

siḥ'run

وَإِنَّا

and indeed, we

wa-innā

بِهِۦ

of it

bihi

كَـٰفِرُونَ

(are) disbelievers

kāfirūna

٣٠

Pero cuando se les presentó con la Verdad dijeron [los idólatras]: “Esto es hechicería, nosotros no creemos en él”.

وَقَالُوا۟

And they say

waqālū

لَوْلَا

Why not

lawlā

نُزِّلَ

was sent down

nuzzila

هَـٰذَا

this

hādhā

ٱلْقُرْءَانُ

the Quran

l-qur'ānu

عَلَىٰ

to

ʿalā

رَجُلٍۢ

a man

rajulin

مِّنَ

from

mina

ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ

the two towns

l-qaryatayni

عَظِيمٍ

great

ʿaẓīmin

٣١

Y dijeron también [desdeñando al Profeta]: “¿Por qué no le fue revelado este Corán [en lugar de a ti] a un hombre distinguido de alguna de las dos ciudades?”

أَهُمْ

Do they

ahum

يَقْسِمُونَ

distribute

yaqsimūna

رَحْمَتَ

(the) Mercy

raḥmata

رَبِّكَ ۚ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

نَحْنُ

We

naḥnu

قَسَمْنَا

[We] distribute

qasamnā

بَيْنَهُم

among them

baynahum

مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ

their livelihood

maʿīshatahum

فِى

in

fī

ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ

the life

l-ḥayati

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

وَرَفَعْنَا

and We raise

warafaʿnā

بَعْضَهُمْ

some of them

baʿḍahum

فَوْقَ

above

fawqa

بَعْضٍۢ

others

baʿḍin

دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ

(in) degrees

darajātin

لِّيَتَّخِذَ

so that may take

liyattakhidha

بَعْضُهُم

some of them

baʿḍuhum

بَعْضًۭا

others

baʿḍan

سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗ

(for) service

sukh'riyyan

وَرَحْمَتُ

But (the) Mercy

waraḥmatu

رَبِّكَ

(of) your Lord

rabbika

خَيْرٌۭ

(is) better

khayrun

مِّمَّا

than what

mimmā

يَجْمَعُونَ

they accumulate

yajmaʿūna

٣٢

¿Acaso son ellos los encargados de repartir la misericordia de tu Señor? Soy Yo Quien concedo el sustento en la vida mundanal y elevo en grados a algunas personas sobre otras, para que así se sirvan y beneficien unos a otros. Sabed que la misericordia de vuestro Señor es mejor que lo que pudierais acaparar [de bienes materiales en esta vida].

وَلَوْلَآ

And if not

walawlā

أَن

that

an

يَكُونَ

(would) become

yakūna

ٱلنَّاسُ

[the] mankind

l-nāsu

أُمَّةًۭ

a community

ummatan

وَٰحِدَةًۭ

one

wāḥidatan

لَّجَعَلْنَا

We (would have) made

lajaʿalnā

لِمَن

for (one) who

liman

يَكْفُرُ

disbelieves

yakfuru

بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ

in the Most Gracious

bil-raḥmāni

لِبُيُوتِهِمْ

for their houses

libuyūtihim

سُقُفًۭا

roofs

suqufan

مِّن

of

min

فِضَّةٍۢ

silver

fiḍḍatin

وَمَعَارِجَ

and stairways

wamaʿārija

عَلَيْهَا

upon which

ʿalayhā

يَظْهَرُونَ

they mount

yaẓharūna

٣٣

Si no fuera porque los seres humanos terminarían siendo una sola nación [de descarriados materialistas], habría concedido a quienes no creen en el Misericordioso, residencias con techos de plata y escaleras por las que ascendiesen [a sus habitaciones].

وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ

And for their houses

walibuyūtihim

أَبْوَٰبًۭا

doors

abwāban

وَسُرُرًا

and couches

wasururan

عَلَيْهَا

upon which

ʿalayhā

يَتَّكِـُٔونَ

they recline

yattakiūna

٣٤

Sus casas tendrían puertas y lechos [de plata] para recostarse.

وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚ

And ornaments of gold

wazukh'rufan

وَإِن

And not (is)

wa-in

كُلُّ

all

kullu

ذَٰلِكَ

that

dhālika

لَمَّا

but

lammā

مَتَـٰعُ

an enjoyment

matāʿu

ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ

(of) the life

l-ḥayati

ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ

(of) the world

l-dun'yā

وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ

And the Hereafter

wal-ākhiratu

عِندَ

with

ʿinda

رَبِّكَ

your Lord

rabbika

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

(is) for the righteous

lil'muttaqīna

٣٥

Todo estaría adornado con oro. Sin embargo [no lo hago porque] todo eso es solo parte de los placeres transitorios de la vida mundanal, mientras que la otra vida junto a tu Señor [es superior y] está reservada para los piadosos.
