وَإِذْ And when wa-idh said qāla your Lord rabbuka to the angels lil'malāikati Indeed, I (am) innī going to place jāʿilun in fī the earth l-arḍi a vicegerent khalīfatan they said qālū Will You place atajʿalu in it fīhā (one) who man will spread corruption yuf'sidu in it fīhā and will shed wayasfiku [the] blood[s] l-dimāa while we wanaḥnu [we] glorify (You) nusabbiḥu with Your praises biḥamdika and we sanctify wanuqaddisu [to] You laka He said qāla Indeed, I innī [I] know aʿlamu what mā not lā you know taʿlamūna
Y [menciona, ¡Oh, Muhámmad!] cuando tu Señor les dijo a los ángeles: “He de establecer en la Tierra a quien la herede”, dijeron: “¿Pondrás en ella a quien la corrompa [devastándola] y derrame sangre, siendo que nosotros Te glorificamos y santificamos?” Dijo: “Yo sé lo que vosotros ignoráis”.
